My listing did not offer postal insurance. I have a receipt from the post office. And guess what?!
the buyer made a paypal claim against me, to which i replied explaining everything, adn it granted, so paypal took automatically moeny from the account to refund the buyer without even telling me why! It goes wihtout saying that I made complaints against paypal already, and Ebay simply don't care (although they OWN paypal they can't help you).
How is it possible that the buyer got the money back! where are my rights as a seller?! and under which regulation can paypal do what they want.Is this an Ebay-Paypal rip off?
the only thing you can do is post every thing recorded and then you can claim from the post office. paypal always seems to find in the buyers favour
I'm just fighting a similar issue on my fathers behalf, for quite a lot of money. It's not the money though - it's the principal. He's recently had a stroke and can't cope with the stress.
The buyer was instructed in the auction, to collect in person. She arranged a courier instead and didn't pay insurance. The item arrived smashed to pieces although I packed it well. The fact is it was a solid piece of wooden furniture! Bad courier!
Ebay won't listen to the fact that it didn't arrive as described because she booked the cheapest courier possible and was too tight to pay a measly few extra quid for insurance! Even though she was welcome to my fathers house to collect!
We've instructed the bank not to release any funds to paypal until they have done a thorough investigation. And told themwe'll see them in Her Majesty's Court if needs be!
It doesn't seem to me that a real human being was at the other end of all the communications between myself and paypal. I think they have a bot that picks out the keywords in your message and sends an automated reply! The apparrent customer service staff don't even sign a surname to their replies!
Paypal has recently been getting a lot of criticism in the media for failing to protect the buyers - so they've swung in entirely the opposite direction.
What they really ought to do is employ human customer services staff that have some experience in the field and a brain between their ears. That way, both buyers and sellers get a fairer deal. Unfortunately they don't appear to be earning enough billions to afford to employ proper staff.
Buyers get to dispute their problems but sellers dealing with fraudulent buyer claims get nothing!!
Submit your complaints about paypal, through paypal. And perservere!
OH YEAH !
Our auction stated very clearly that payment by cash or cheque ONLY but somehow ebay still let the dumb buyer process a payment by paypal..grrrrrrrrrr
Yep, their charges are verging on the ridiculous and what do we get in return?
Lets all move to http://www.ebid.co.uk .. the design and layout isn't brilliant but with a few 100,000 refugees swarming in- they could afford a colour co-ordinated design :P The service is good.
And it's time we left ebay to the car-booters and power sellers. It's not a real auction site anymore. I get sick of having to scroll through miles of buy it now pages before I get to the auctions.
Please excuse the rant .... :(Is this an Ebay-Paypal rip off?
Paypal sucks! If you have proof of posting you should be able to claim from the post office for the loss. Get a form from the post Office.
Don't use paypal.
I use postal orders with insurance.
Sellers like them because buyers like me can't put in claims through paypal. On the other hand ive had sellers claim my postal orders haven't turned up.thats when i check out there house on google earth, and get the local postal office to check them out for complaints etc. Some people swear by palpal.I won't use it.Is this an Ebay-Paypal rip off?
YES, i hate the system it reeks of evilness. Ebay is ok but their paypal system annoys me.
The charges incurred as a seller are a rip off! and a MASSIVE earner for the company, just imagine 拢1 - 拢2 for EVERY sale sold on the site and times that by however many million items are sold each day! That is why most people jack up the p%26amp;p prices to cover the cost of the paypal charges.
hi. this has happened to me twice, with paypal taking money out of my account without permission.
i simply cancelled the direct debit with them, and that was it. i blocked emails from them and so on and so forth.
then a couple of years later i two letters from NCO Europe, a debt collection company demanding the 拢60 i owe them. total w*a-n*k*e*r*s paypal.
i mean, i had to pay it in the end, but there is a number for PayPal.
goto WWW.SAYNOTO0870.COM and do a company search for PAYPAL.
it should throw up a few numbers, as i cant remember the number i was given.
hope you get somewhere with them, as i would have saved money on the phone call by talking to the cat, it would have been more helpful.
I feel for you!!!!! I've been using eBay since they started in the end of 1995 and learned long ago to ALWAYS purchase a .55 delivery confirmation for everything I send!!! I also state in my auctions that if a person does not buy additional insurance, I am not responsible for it...past dropping it at the post office.
A delivery confirmation number shows eBay/PayPal that you held up your end of the bargain and dropped it at the post office. Whatever happens to it after that, it's not your problem and they can't make a claim against you.
Also, had your person had the option of buying additional insurance (and they rejected it), their PayPal claim would have been rejected. Unfortunately, it's just one of the many pains of selling items through eBay!
You'll have to swallow this one, but cover your butt in the future!
This happened to brother in law of a friend at work with a mobile phone. Buyer paid by paypal then asked if he could colllect it as he was in the area. Buyer collected phone then reported to ebay that it hadn't been received. Money was then taken out of the sellers account. The seller was a police officer so investigations are being made. Moral of the story is if you are buying pay by paypal and if you are selling accept cheques only. You will see that some sellers advertise that they no longer accept paypal. Paypal is a rip off anyway. I recently sold something for 拢10 and the selling fees including paypal charges was 拢2.53, 25% of the sale. Its about time someone else gav ebay some competition. I recently purchased an external fan for an xbox 360 and paypal paid the money twice. After various emails of me accusing them that they had made a mistake they said that it was my fault by paying for it twice. Try it yourself, you can't pay for an item twice unless you use the send money facility which I hadn't. The problem was caused by the page crashing as I confirmed my payment so I refreshed it. Good job the seller was on the ball and sent me 2 items and I managed to sell the one I didn't want.
paypal and ebay are run by Bin Ladin. The best part is that the government is paying for the site
Sounds like Big Biz weasling out of things as usual - yet the buyer benefitted - prob of trust in Ebay type merchandising. How do they know the buyer didn't get the record and now for free?!
Only way I can see to resolve is with recorded deliveries or insurance, both of which jack up the price and reduce profit margins - or how about if everyone was just plain HONEST!
well on the other side i bought a mobile phone costing 拢200 it neva came the bloke was a fraud n paypal gave me nothing back saying i had won the dispute but unfortunately there was nothing they could do life sucks doesn't it
I'm a seller too. IF YOU HAVE PROOF OF POSTAGE YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT !!!!!
Get back on to them, attach a copy of the proof of postage to your email, DEMAND a refund. I've had the same happen to me.
I ended up going to the CAB, the item item i was dealing with was quite expensive though, they got on the case for me and even went as far as to appoint a legal aid solicitor to act on my behalf who wrote letters to the head office. It took a few weeks but i ended up getting all my money back from the post office, plus compensation. Get down to your local CAB first thing in the morning dude!
