Ebay problems with a buyer please help.?

i joined up to ebay to earn some extra money to pay back my debts and i sold my spare camera it was working when it left my house as i tested it and i then sent it to the customer i wrapped the item well and i took out postal insurance and now they say its broken and they want their money back and they will not send the camera back until they get their money back.

So i do not know what to do paypal reccomends the buyer sends the item back before you give a refund.

What can i do? The camera was in perfect working order when it left my house as i tested it and i just cant afford to take the time to sort this out.Ebay problems with a buyer please help.?
What you do is:

you both abide by ebays recommended course of action.

See this page.

When doing a transaction through ebay I think you agree to abide by rules. They will also provide a mediator and the buyer can request your phone number amongst other things they can do. read up and then refer your buyer to the rules process. It is there for disputes like yours.

Frankly you are in the stronger position as you ahve your money, so I woudl advise unless they want tp stick to the rules and return the camera, they can forget it.

Don't let them con you, be aware, don't return their money if the rules say they return the goods first. Does your postal insurance cover damage?

It is right and proper for them to return the camera first. If they don't send it to you, don't send them any money. Sounds like they are trying to scam you.
you should wait until the buyer sends the item back with them paying for the shipping before you give them a refund because for all you know the camera could be in perfect working orderEbay problems with a buyer please help.?
Send an email to Ebay customer service to see what they recommend, but I would not refund any money until they return the camera. You can also file a claim with the Post Office but that will take time. Once again, do not give them back the money until they send back the camera. If it is indeed broken, they will have no problem returning it.
You should have listed your terms of refund in the sales posting. Mostly, buyers are agreeing, with each of the items offered for sale, to pay freight backwards to the seller for a refund. As a merchant you are under no obligation to refund unless the item is returned "as is", and sell-able again. If PayPal was used, there was the option for a guarantee if the buyer so chose. I'd say, all they can do is give you a bad recommendation and you can refute that in the buyer / seller feedback.

Get your camera back first.
Man, what a bummer! It sounds to me like you did everything you should have done. You did say you took out postal insurance - how you checked with the USPS to see what their policy is on paying out a claim for the insurance you took out? That is the reason for this insurance, right? The absolute LAST thing I would do (meaning DON'T do it!) is send the buyer a refund before you get the camera back. That is what PayPal says too. This sounds very suspicious to me, especially with it being the holiday season. So, here is what I would do in your situation: First, check with the USPS about claiming your postal insurance. That may or may not cover the full amount of the price you got for your camera. Then, I would sit down and compose a very thorough, detailed letter to the buyer, detailing exactly everything you did prior to your sending the camera to them, including the fact that PayPal told you that the buyer needs to return the item prior to reimbursement. Then I would send that letter Certified, Return Receipt Requested, so you will have evidence that the buyer received this letter from you. Then I wouldn't do ANYTHING until if and when the buyer returns the camera. If the buyer does, I would take it to a camera place to see if someone who knows what they are doing can tell if something was done to the camera, if in fact it actually is broken. Unfortunately they may not be able to tell, so if the buyer does return the camera to you, then you would have to reimburse the buyer what he paid you for the camera. However, hopefully your postal insurance will cover some, if not most, of this cost. BUT, if the buyer doesn't return the camera, then I would keep the money that the buyer paid you in good conscience, as it would then appear you avoided what was probably a rip-off artist. I'm sorry that this happened to you. I would hope that this isn't something that happens often with eBay, but it probably does happen more often during the holiday season. Good luck to you.
Tell them they have to send the camera back to you so you can claim i from the postal insurance u purchased and refund the money back to the buyer. Explain the buyer it is business ethics that when u recieve the camera back u will refund their money. Also explain them that Paypal also recomends the same thing.
Hey don`t worry about it, if they don`t send the camera back

don`t send them the money.

That is the policy.
Look, this is so typical of ebay, buyers make up all kinds of stuff. I'm a seller too and I encounter all kinds of buyer scams...they range from...

1) threat of neg feedback if you dont do what they want

2) threat of report to ebay if you dont do what they want

3) saying item is lost in post especially if its not sign for because they know theres no evidence to trace it.

4) deliberately underpaying/part-paying for the item, and then saying they wont pay the rest unless you do this or that. then threatening to report you saying transaction is complete because theyve paid you some money, then refusing to pay up for the outstanding amount saying they cant pay the rest because it wouldn't be covered by paypal insurance. etc etc

In answer to your question, IF you agree by email to give a refund once he has sent the camera back, then hes probably not a scammer, because you will see that the camera is broken when he returns it (however THINK: he may have damaged it himself and thinks he can get a refund!) IF however he wants money refunded to hs account before he sends camera back, then its a total scam.
They could be scamming you. The camera might work perfectly fine. Tell them that if the camera broke during shipping, then they have to file an insurance claim with the postal carrier. Do not refund their money.
