I just sold a graphics card on ebay for 拢125 (inc p+p).
Paypal and ebay fees came to a total of 拢16.
Postage will probably be about another 拢7.
I've noticed that through paypals guarantee, the buyer can get a full refund any time up to 45 days after the transaction. If this happens, (say the card is damaged in transit, or the buyer is too incompetent to install the card). Will I get back the paypal and ebay fees?
If not, then could this whole exercise end up costing me over 拢20??
I've thought about taking postal insurance out on the item to mitigate this risk, but will that only cover against loss? And if it does cover damage, how long after the item is delivered would I have to make a claim?
I can't help but feel that selling on ebay, even in good faith to legitimate buyers is very risky...
Thanks for any advice.Paypal buyer protection?
If the buyer confirms the decision not to buy with ebay you will get your paypal fees (less $0.35) and your ebay final value fees only refunded but not other fees (insertion, photos. etc.). You need to have signature confirmation to prove the item did arrive. Most people are honest but a few are diabolical. Sellers know the occasional rip off is the cost of doing business. You should learn more before selling on ebay. It can be risky, depending on the item sold. Electronics is a high risk category.
