I paid the US Postal Service to deliver a package (mailed priority, in a priority shipping box). The cost was over $10. That was nearly two months ago. It never arrived, we assumed it was stolen.
Yesterday, the box arrived back at my house marked "undeliverable". The address is a valid one (it's my daughter's), we double checked everything about the address and no problems. It had two dates they "attempted delivery" -- both this month! And yet there was no need to do anything but leave the box -- there was no insurance, no delivery confirmation, no signature required.
Strangely, there was a white sticker (postal service type, easily peeled off - like they use to print bar codes on) over the address, presumably put there by the postal service.
Dear Postal Carriers...any idea what went wrong, and is there any possibility of a refund? Naturally we lost all the perishable items that were in the box, but gosh, I paid over $10 in postage and it was gone for two months. The US Postal Service did not deliver a package (USPS Employees Please?)?
if there was not a metered postage on the parcel, they would refuse to deliver on the other end due to security percautions, packages that are sent with postage stamps instead of meter prints are usually returned. if it WAS metered, and still not delivered, it may have been the letter carrier felt the package could not be left in a safe place, was the mail box too small , was the driveway gated? was a barking dog present? if it was in a rural area, and made it past the post office, only the carrier would know why it was not left..many carriers will take the time to place a package at the door or beside the garage, while some carriers will not leave a parcel just laying there. "just leave the box" is not always possible, you can;t just toss it out on the side of the road, near the house...and if the carrier was unable to access the property safely, then he/she had no choice but to return it to the post office and it sat there waiting on another attempt. This is why I send ALL my packages UPS...much more reliable than any government run agency. Go with the BROWN TRUX!
