Laptop damaged in post, what do i do???

bought laptop on ebay for sister.....recieved it but will not start up...i bought from a trusted ebayer who i have got a laptop from before so i trust it was working when sent.

i have a feeling it was damaged in post....i paid for special recorded delivery with insurance....what do i do? will the postal insurance cover this?Laptop damaged in post, what do i do???
You paid for the insurance but the seller bought it in his name so it is up to him to claim. He may need to convince post office that it wasn't broken when he sent it. Your first contact needs to be with the seller

Who's decision was it to use the Royal Mail Special Delivery option?

If the seller chose this method and only offered you this option then they are responsible for resolving this matter.

Was the laptop adequately packaged? Did it state fragile/handle with care/this way up on the outside of the package? The wrong answer to these are things which Royal Mail can use as excuses not to pay any insurance claim.

Contact the seller first and inform them of the problem.Let them decide what you should do.If they won't help, then go to the post office.
have you tried charging it? if this doesn't work (most likely) then i'm sorry, i don't own a laptop but i'm saving up 4 1 though!Laptop damaged in post, what do i do???
Send it back tot the ebayer!
Contact seller.

They should replace or refund because you paid for the insurance.
