free? How much to they have to pay for health insurance? They are asking us to pay for their retirement fund, so I think I have the right to know if they offer too much to their employees. How much do u.s. postal employees have to pay into their retirement? Or do they receive their pension for?
I LOVE the first answerer who says the Postal Service isn't taxpayer funded. LOL! They lose $8 BILLION dollars a year! If they were a business, they would be OUT OF BUSINESS!!! So, you tell me, WHO foots the bill for the $8 BILLION in losses?!?!?!?!?!
OF COURSE they are tax payer funded! And what is more, the Postal Service has a DIFFERENT union agreement than other federal employees and agencies! It's a much cusher deal!
But with all of that said, federal employees do NOT get ANYTHING like what you hear with some of these state governments. TRUST ME on that one!!!
But if you really want to research it, here's a site:
http://www.opm.gov/insure/health/
The postal service is racist against white people. Look at their race statistics for Chicago. White people need affirmative action under Obama. How much do u.s. postal employees have to pay into their retirement? Or do they receive their pension for?
That is for people who worked for the post office when it was a government agency. Current employees only get 401K and social security. Try to stay current on things.
Yeah, mailmen are all millionaires. Maybe you better look at your congressmen. How much do u.s. postal employees have to pay into their retirement? Or do they receive their pension for?
The Postal Service isn't taxpayer funded. Check it out.
They get $10K for each stamp they lick

Help on lousy USPS postal service and mailmen?
I mailed rather expensive Prada boots by USPS Priority mail with confirmation tracking No. but without insurance.
My problem is tracking No. shows that it's been delivered but in truth it never was delivered.
Recipient went to the post office and spoke with a post master re undelivered package but was told that there is nothing he can do because the package is not insured and the mailman who supposedly delivered a package is on vacation and will not be returning until 2010.
Anyone knows what steps I should take?
ThanksHelp on lousy USPS postal service and mailmen?
I am sorry to hear about this, but it does not surprise me that the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE is unreliable. Next time, use UPS or FEDEX. The USPS believes it does not have to answer to anyone, and can continue to rack up ridiculous debt. Always insure expensive items, or at least ask for a required signature.

Is the U.S. Postal Service THIS slow? Please help?
I am very sad and upset.
I sent my 11 year old son, who is living in Columbus, OH ...2 big boxes of Christmas gifts LAST MONDAY. I sent them 'priority' but was not offered a way to track the packages by having them signed for. Maybe it was the long lines but I don't recall being offered or mentioning getting insurance on it.
My ex told me that the postman didn't see the packages and wouldn't have left them in his door, he would've taken them back to the post office.
I called my post office who called theirs and said it shouldv'e been there. It's been 1 week and he still didn't get his gifts. There were some very sentimental things in the box and I am very nervous!
I am I trippin'? Anyone else have any probs shipping anything? Is the U.S. Postal Service THIS slow? Please help?
Along with sending it priority mail, did you put a delivery confirmation scan on it?
Based on what you just wrote, no insurance or delivery confirmation was placed on your packages.
I've sent packages back on Saturday 12/20 and it wasn't delivered till the 27th. An entire week. I have seen packages being misrouted just as well.
Give it a few more days and see if it shows up. I would say AFTER New Years. If not, go back to your post office with the receipt they gave you and file a missing package form.
Hope it'll turn out for your son soon :)Is the U.S. Postal Service THIS slow? Please help?
If we have anything of Importance we use Fed X or UPS !
Our son had to get his stuff via the US Postal service and he got his stuff Christmas Day !
Barely !

If the US Postal Service was funded by tax payers,?
and not by the fees they charge for shipping, would FedEx and UPS still exist as they are today?

United States Postal Service Question?
I tracked down the package that i was suppose to receive and it said that it was delivered at 12:35 PM yesterday.
I looked outside and there was no package or note.
That night i looked at my security cameras and it showed the mailman drop off mail at 12:12 PM. Just regular mail, no package. He never attempted to drop anything off at my doorstep.
I called the shipper to ask where he sent it and he told me the correct address. So i call USPS and basically they say that there is no insurance so they cant do anything.
What do i do now???United States Postal Service Question?
Another example of the USPS ineptness and total lack of customer service. But the taxpayers will be responsible for handsomely rewarding this non service in retirement benefits. CHANGE NEEDS TO HAPPEN.United States Postal Service Question?
Check back with the postal service. They can put a trace on your package and it doesn't have to be insured. I have had them do this before for me. Tell them about the security camera and show it to them if necessary but don't let them put you off. If necessary go to the post office and ask to see the post master. Good luck.

Do you actually believe that there is room for everyone in the middle some place .?
I have looked in the paper at the help wanted adds .Lots of people needed to drive a truck -lots of health care workers needed . A few insurance people and sales jobs .By an far very few good paying jobs . Teachers ,police, postal service ,civil service , city managers engineers, prosecuting and defense attorneys needed .But all those jobs cost tax payers . Then I look at the firms hiring for Engineers ,Architects and find that the company doing the hiring is a government contractor in most cases . Without taking from one group and giving to another what kind of system do we have going here .
Taxes have tripled in the last 60 years and so has the number of people working for the government .I know we need services but at what cost . If a laborer on a government job earns 15 dollars and hour then all laborers should earn the same right . A carpenter on a government job earns 26 dollars so most carpenters should earn that much right . The government pays well to establish loyalty .Do you actually believe that there is room for everyone in the middle some place .?
What makes you think driving a truck isn't a good paying job? The average over-the-road company driver, a driver that drives a company owned truck, makes about $45K to $60K. An owner operator, a driver that owns his own truck, makes about $75K to $100K.
Now, how does that stack up to a job that requires $60K or so in college education and the lost of 4 working years while going to college?Do you actually believe that there is room for everyone in the middle some place .?
Your premise appears to be that the gvt pays better than the private sector. Gvt jobs, generally, have the best job security %26amp; benefits but not pay. Believe the room in the middle is primarily service related. Skilled tradesman can go independent and make a good living. $45.+ per hr for a carpenter. $85. per hr for a plumber. Electricians, automotive technicians, heavy equipment operators, cosmotologists, pharmacy techs, radiologists... all can earn extremely well. Can easily make $60k yearly as a trucker. Teachers are paid on the state level and school taxes determine that rate of pay. Police departments get a good portion of their funding from ticketing %26amp; liscensing. Post Office gets most of its funding through direct sales of stamps %26amp; package fees (similar to Fed Ex, etc) Trash pick-up, etc is bid on and contracted out -one can make $15.-$20.hr in the right cities. Expenses for that shows up on your city utility bill. Actual taxpayer money goes more the infrastructure, social security programs, etc. Many firms, manufacturing plants, have gvt contracts as well as private contracts from all over the world. Many people don't realize that American business is being slowly but surely bought out, more and more, by foreign buyers. Very little manufacturing here is American citizen owned. Engineers and architects working independent or for those companies can make some staggering money - way over what any gvt job can pay. Don't believe the gvt is trying to 'establish loyalty' - there are more applicants than positions. In the private sector there are mass openings in human resources and technical writing areas. Training schools can be a much sounder option for many people over generic college degrees. Room in the middle, again services and specialization. Telephone, electric, cable lineman....many more jobs. May start small pay but those jobs actually teach you while you gain experience. All pay better privately than by the gvt.Do you actually believe that there is room for everyone in the middle some place .?
Many high paying jobs don't advertise in the want ads. The government pays above market in some fields and below market in others, though where it pays below market you get a lot of dysfunctional people who wouldn't last doing the job in the private sector - often it's a complete boondoggle. Tolltakers, for example, make in the $50K range to make change. Do you think that's what supermarket cashiers should make or realize what things would cost if they did?
As for "middle" I am guessing you mean middle class. Economists often define middle class to mean households earning between 2X and 5X the poverty level of income. Over the last 25 years there's been a migration upwards - if you plot it on a graph with number of households on the Y axis and multiple of the poverty level of income on the X axis, in the 1970s there was a bell curve around 3.5X-4X and no fat tail on either end. The bell has bulged to the right over the last 25 years - many households have left that 2X-5X range but 92% of them have moved UP. There's still a "middle" but a lot of them now count as "affluent" even though most probably consider themselves upper middle class. Just so you don't think I'm making this up I've included some links below - one to Cato citing the Census Bureau and one to the Census Bureau.

Please help! Michigan driving record question?
I was in an accident in a company vehicle but not issued a ticket and i have no points on my license. Is there a public record connecting me with the insurance claim, or is it all in the name of the employer? Im applying for postal job and i need to know if i can omit this from my driving record. Please help! Michigan driving record question?
I would come clean. They do an exhaustive search on new employees. You traded info with the other driver, and they gave it to their ins.company. Also the employer may have filled your info on the ins. form. You don't want that to come back and bite you, least not for a job that you don't want to loose.

Ebay question...please help?
I just sold an item on ebay. I've sold and bought items before and wasn't worried, but for some reason, this time I am. Let me explain why. I had tried to sell this item before on both Craig's List and eBay and had two attempted scam attempts on both sites. Fortunately, I didn't fall for either scam, but now I'm a little paranoid about the whole system.
The person who purchased my item only has a user rating of "1." This further worries me.
Am I just being a worry wart?
Also, I am wondering about insurance through the postal service. Who benefits from this insurance? The buyer or the seller?Ebay question...please help?
+You can (and should) indicate that you will not sell to persons who have profiles that are suspect (see Ebay poicies and guidelines). Also, whatever name is on the insurance slip is the one who benefits.Ebay question...please help?
First of all if you use paypal to either accept or make payments then you will rarely if ever have any issues on eBay. Aside from that as long as you have received the payment then there is no real way of being scammed. If you don't have a Paypal account i would set one up it's easy and free and there is a link right on eBay. Hope that helps.minn kota corner bakery menu

I sell lots of things on ebay. I've sold to a few feedback 1, for the most part they seem to be confused on how the system works, but once you tell them what to do it works out. If the person pays with paypal make sure you send to the address that is listed through paypal, then the paypal guarantee will stand for you. Also remember to use delivery confirmation, if you are feeling like you might need some extra precaution use a signature confirmation instead.
The seller has to do the claim with the usps postal insurance.

IS THIS A LEGAL WRONGFUL DEATH ?
My mom went into the hospital 2 weeks ago because she was sick and gagging all the time , could not keep nothing down , she is 71.
she had a home help nurse twice a week but still she tgot no better ,she she is also diabetic, she woke up one morning real sick so we called 911, she was admitted to the hospital .
they started to give her i.v s right away and the next 2 days i talked to her she felt a little better, well the third day she told me they were moving her to another floor, i asked why ? she told me the doctor had a little battle with her insurance company , i can't figure that one out because her husband had good insurance with the postal service where he retired.
they moved her up to the 6 floor , a NONMEDICAL FLOOR !!WHY !!she was sick as h*** and they started her on therapy !! she was to sick to get out of bed , each day since she was on that last floor she was going downhill !!she was gagging worse , could not urinate on her own !!she was in there for 10 days .
i talked to her on day 11. at 8pm till 10 pm , she was alert and feeling a little better but a little short on breath, she told me to call her at 2pm.
my sister called me the next day and told me her doctor told her mom was doing great everything was fine she would be home in a few days .
that was about 11am.
she told my sister they were taking her to therapy but she was to sick , well about 1pm she went to therapy anyway according to her roomate against her wishes , at 1:45 they brougtht her back she was having trouble breathing , she crawled into bed on her left side layed down the therapist came in 5 min later to talk to her , she did not respond , he yelled her name 2 more times nothing , SHE WAS DEAD !! WHY !! why therapy when she was so sick !!why not keep her on a medical floor instead of skilled care !!well they werent so skilled cause my mom is dead in my opinion because of therapy !! totally uncalled for !!i believe if they would have left her in bed instead of making her excercise she would be alive !! please only serious answers i need some opinions , i am her son !!IS THIS A LEGAL WRONGFUL DEATH ?
What is a non-medical floor in a hospital? I'm not aware of such a thing. I've never been to a hospital that had any floors that didn't provide some type of healthcare. Well, except for the parking garage floors, of course.
i had a similar thing happen to my cousin but they sent her home and told her is was all in her head told her to see a shrink she died in her sleep a week later she was only 27 with 2 small kids we are suing the hospital for wrong full death get a lawyer............ its a long process .......IS THIS A LEGAL WRONGFUL DEATH ?
I WOULD REQUEST HER MEDICAL RECORDS AND SEE IF YOUR THOUGHTS CAN BE BACKED UP WITH PHISICAL PROOF
Medical negligence is extremely difficult to prove. The hospital, doctors and nurses will all stick up for each other.
What Larry Doyle says is correct. You need solid evidence of wrongdoing.
An attorney would only be able to tell you if it was a wrongful death after perusing all the medical records and interviewing those who were responsible for caring for your mom.
There could have been good medical reasons for them moving your mom. Your attorney will need to question them in this regard.IS THIS A LEGAL WRONGFUL DEATH ?
The horrible but honest answer is because once she no longer needed to be on IV's the insurance company would no longer pay for her to be kept on an acute care floor and the hospital did the best they could by keeping her on the rehab floor.

The post office is cheap for packages under a pound AND MAKE SURE YOU PUT INSURANCE ON IT.

My mailman and post office are top notch.Any one having issue with the usps post office?
Oh YEAH, I hate the post office!
My mail goes to the wrong boxes constantly and I get other people's mail (like credit card statements). They don't pick up mail that should go to the post office.
I have had this complaint for years, and they do NOTHING about it.
They are truly a bunch of idiots.
Need Serious Help from people who understand paypal transactions and dispuits ?
Long story short.
I shipped a phone and accessories out.
The buyer never told me he was making me ship it to a 3rd party postal service.
The 3rd party postal service shipped it out to him.
He said that he never received the phone, and he received only the accessories.
The suspicion :
In the invoice of the 3rd party postal service, they claim that the package contained phone accessories.
how would they know? I never labeled the package anything besides his address and return address.
Is it possible the postal service tampered with it, or is he just being dishonest.
He opened a dispute on paypal, and i escalated it to a claim
Is there anything else i should know or do
anyone have an experience like this
i dont have insurance from the postal service.
has fraud taken place?
how should i go about proving it, if it hasNeed Serious Help from people who understand paypal transactions and dispuits ?
What happened after it left the 3rd party postal service is none of your concern. All you have to prove to paypal is that the item was delivered to the address the buyer gave you. If you have proof of delivery, then it's not your problem
If the buyer (who is obviously a scammer) had a problem with the 3rd party shipper, that is not your concern - that is between him and the shipper who he will need to take to court
If you have a receipt of the original shipment, the weight alone would show if there was a phone in it or not. If the weight of your package was not the same as on the 3rd party invoice then you have proof the 3rd party stole the phone.
Or there was no "third party" shipper - that was all part of the scam all along

Do you know anyone who manufactures something made in America .?
Who knows people who still make something here . Like a chair or a table or some pants or shoes or anything .
Shouldn't we know people who actually make something . I know lots of retail workers and plenty of professionals payed by the government to work as defense contractors , teachers , postal workers and others but I know not one person who makes something .
We used to be a community of blacksmiths , candle makers , butchers , furniture makers , rug weavers , mill workers and now ,I am afraid those people have all gone .
Do you know any real working Americans who make something . Something solid . Not an insurance policy or manage an investment fund but actual create something of real use and value .Do you know anyone who manufactures something made in America .?
If you find someone who makes things in the US please let me know, I'm really tired of buying all these cheaply made products that fall apart. You know, the ones that flood the shelves of our retail stores, like China %26amp; Taiwan. I would really love to see something of quality so that I won't have to purchase the same darn thing over and over and over again when it breaks. My moms home was full of such great products. I still have many of her things today and some of them are at least 50 years old.
YesDo you know anyone who manufactures something made in America .?
I manufacture electrical membranes to be used in Keyboards, cell phones, and GPS units.
It is the Information Age. Did you get mad after the Agricultural age?Do you know anyone who manufactures something made in America .?
Yes, many in fact
I make gun holsters
Yep....a friend of mine works at Audio Research in MN...producing some of the finest audio amplifiers in the world..
I know copper miners.
Thanks to the labor unions, probably not!
yea i work in a factory, and almost every one that works there makes something made in the usa.
My company manufactures pharmaceuticals
Here are five:
John Deere, Cummins, Donaldson, Timken, GE
I make software training videos, design websites and make graphics for all kinds of applications.
It is damned near impossible to get work with any large US corporation, since they either outsource or pay so little to people in my field that I'm better off freelancing to kinder but humbler employers.
So I get my revenge by talking work from out of state, out of country and around the world. I end up working for nicer people than if I had to prostate myself before some 'American' businessman.
Here's a web site with things made in America. Although there are still a few things it's not a list to inspire confidence in the future.

We've given away entire industries and devastated communities across the country for the benefit of wall Street.

lets see....Furniture, cars, tons of things...i happen to work for a company that manufactures engines for airplanes, military and commercial. we do our own manufacturing...
Yankee Candle company in Massachusetts is the largest candle makign entity in America, so there is your throw-back 19th century option for candle makers. :) as for Black smiths...wow, thats really setting technological progress back a 1000 years! we still make furniture (AS i mentioned), and Sam the butcher still works in my town...
i am afraid that all those people have NOT gone, and as times have changed, so have we, regarding WHAT we manufacture...maybe its you that needs to see the "Real value" of an evolving economy...
Yes. I personally know people who make airplanes, paper, clothing, furniture, knives, houses, ships, boats, and automobiles. That is just off the top of my head. I could probably think of some more.
How about those guys Dave and Dave Jr. who build custom motorcycles.
My neighbor crafts beautiful wood articles and does fantastic upholstery.
No, we still have a lot of people with ingenuity, and they are the ones keeping America strong!
Remember Indiana has Shipshawanna (sp?) And there are many people do craft fine wood furniture here in Michigan at the Oak Factory. Mostly made by Amish craftsmen.
~
My dad is a carpenter, so yes he makes things. (high quality)
His company they go in and remodel restaurants, golf clubs etc. The do some really beautiful projects. (not to mention in pretty good demand)
You should see his new kitchen, he did almost everything himself solid cabinets (no crappy plywood) Island, the works. But that's an example of what his company does, if the people who are hiring them will pay the money for the craftsmanship.(and work)
There are some out there that are still doing jobs like this, fewer and fewer for sure, but they are out there.
Shoes: New Balance 992s and 2001 models.
Cookware: All Clad.
They make Toyota cars about 40 miles South of here (down in Mississippi).
Delta Faucets: in some tiny little city in the middle of Tennessee--seen it while driving to Pigeon Forge once.
Some chips--IBM Microelectronics division in Burlington Vermont and East Fiskill, NY.
Sharp has manufacturing here in Memphis as does Brother and Medtronic.
Harley Davidson motorcyles in Wisconsin. Caterpillar tractors and John Deere in Illinoise, etc.
The thing is, not all of the companies manufacturing stuff here are US firms.
I have travelled all over the US, and I have visited many manufacturing facillities, and I could go on until I was boring, and all of that anecdotal information does not describe the overall trend.
I could go on if you like?
Yes, I know someone who actually manufactures something ! Amazing ain't it ?
My friend is Bill Wright, and his family has run a glass factory here in lovely Kokomo, Indiana since the mid-19th century. The company is called "Kokomo Opalescent Glass" at present, They make a variety of glass art objects, stained glass, and just about any colored-glass products.
There was recently an article about the company in AAA's bi-monthly magazine. It was real informative, and shared facts like, these families have the exact formulas for thousands of glasses they have manufactured, so, if a church is destroyed by fire, or one of it's stained-glass windows is damaged, the Kokomo company can make the exact glass that was used back in 1869, or whenever !
Pretty cool huh?
I couldn't find a link to this story on the "HomeAndAwayMagazine site, but if you know a triple-A member, ask them for last month's issue and read this story.

How to complain about an online store JewelryByNovel.com?
I ordered earrings on JewelryByNovel.com. When I received them I was surprised by how poor they look. They were yellow, cloudy and had more visible inclusions than I have ever seen in diamonds. A local jeweler checked them and concluded that these diamonds are defective, broken inside and filled with silicone. The color and clarity of the diamonds are not even close to what they declared in their certificate.
I contacted Jewelry by Novel (LA) and pointed to their cheating. They absolutely didn't care about my opinion and told me that I can return the item, but I will have to pay all postal expenses and insurance.
Well, I sent the earrings back. After 10 days the refund still was not issued. I called them and each time they answered that "our manager is busy". I wrote them emails. Most of them were ignored.
And more... I left my phone number on their website and since the next day I received tons of spam messages and got an extra $$ on my phone bill. I had no choice but call to my cell phone provider and ask to block all incoming messages on my phone.
I filed a complain to Better Business Bureau.
Jewelry by Novel's representatives started to call and speak to me and my husband in foul language, such as "f@..ng idiot", etc. They demanded all negative reviews we wrote to be removed. They kept calling, screaming that they loose money because of the negative reviews and they are going to put us in trouble in return. I recorded the conversations.
Then Jewelry by Novel performed an illegal action using the private information I left on their website during the registration. They found all available information about me and my husband in Internet using the name and address from my invoice and used it for threatening and making annoying calls.
They found the company where I work using my email address. They made a call to the company owner, abused him and threatened to kill his business despite the fact that he has nothing to do with their "diamonds" and has no idea who they are. You can imagine his reaction.
I called to Amazon customer service (because I found Jewelry by Novel in Amazon "Sponsored Links" section) and was advised to file a complain to police for abuse, annoying calls and threatening.
Probably they are right? I'm tired of Jewelry by Novel's activity against me and my husband in vengeance for the reviews we left about our experience with their company.
Probably this is time to take serious actions? How to complain about an online store JewelryByNovel.com?
it is amazing that they are upset about your dislike of their inventory.
the more they did their thing, the more they created more problems.
at the same time, other than return the goods, did you discuss their
actions or business elsewhere? Did they refund your money?
if not, go to small claims court and sue them.
I get a feeling you went on a premature vendetta.

Best possible investment to save as much taxes?I am a 28 year male with a CTC of 12.5 lakhs and I was hopi?
I am a 28 year male with a CTC of 12.5 lakhs and I was hoping you can help me with use of a case study on what the best investments could I make to save maximum taxes based on the latest budget recommendations. I already have a housing loan with an exemption of 1.5 lakh. Besides this I have no other investments to save taxes..I have no children and dependants as well..I was hoping in having a mix of Public PF, Postal savings, some insurance covers, medical insurance etc which would help me in saving the maximum taxes for the upcoming financial year. My whole agenda is to invest amounts that I would otherwise pay as taxes rather than investing anything from my pocket :) I would appreciate if anyone could give me actual breakup of the amounts I need to invest to save taxes. Thanks in Advance..Best possible investment to save as much taxes?I am a 28 year male with a CTC of 12.5 lakhs and I was hopi?

Hi. The current tax laws are highly simplified, and you can invest in any of the tax instruments you have mentioned, as well as in NSC, ELSS and Mutual Funds. However, do remember that returns vary from instrument to instrument, as do lock-in periods. Also, the returns on most are taxable at the time of maturity or withdrawal.
The best way to calculate how much you need to invest =
(1,00,000 - PF contribution - Capital repayment of home loan). The 1.5 lakh in interest exemption on home loans is over and above this amount. Since you have no children/dependents, education policy, or health policy for dependents does not apply, though you can get one for yourself. Several credit cards bundle a health insurance cover with the card and deduct the premium in monthly instalments. You can claim this deduction under your health insurance cover as well.

Our bedrooms, and women's uteri.
If all of the above were true, then the Republicans would be an anarchic political party. They aren't.
The republican party does not want the fire department, prisons, sanitation, police, or the judicial system privatized, and they disagree about the rest. Libertarians within the party such as Ron and Rand Paul want medicare, education, social security, the postal service, and health care privatized, with the rest under government control. What don't republicans want privatized?
None, any or all of the above depending on who is asking and the perceived motive for the question. Notice the most serious response you received is a rhetorical question without a literal answer but the best method for discovering the truth is always let the republican show you, never ask the republican to tell you, so answer this question: Which articles in the above list HAVE republicans in the past or presently, privatized, attempted to privatize or proposed to privatize?
a) all of the above
b) none of the above

While privatizing everything would probably be a bad idea, the USPS, Social Security, Medicare, Health Care etc. are all in the red.
The Judicial System is filled up with petty drug offenses that the bloated budgets of the Police Department spend all their extra money on. (Waste and Waste)
1. Medicare is bankrupt-FAIL
2. More that is spent on education, the more our kids are stupid-FAIL
3. Wrong-FAIL

Privatizing results in lower costs, more efficiency, less waste and better service. Without the motivation of competition, there is no impetus to operate better and improve service.
Proof - DMV, County hospitals, etc.
I don't know if that is true but a white person has more of a chance to get hired if they go private, right now at the post office they look at your race to see if you qualify to stand around all day and talk about retirement benefits
do they even teach the existence of the Consitution in schools anymore or do they just give props to the kid who can repeat the oldest 1970s slogan the loudest?
Churches, they want the government to subsidize their churches by not making them pay taxes like every other business.
NASA should not be privatized but guess who thinks otherwise.
I don't think they want the military privatized (thank god)
Corporate subsidies.

I mailed a package USPS with delivery confirmation but says it hasn't been received and seller wants refund?
Who's at fault? USPS or me? Why should I refund him for something the Postal Service lost? He didn't ask for insurance. Some packages i've sent have arrived but the "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper..." message remains. Is he just trying to get some money after receiving his item? Any help is welcome. thank youI mailed a package USPS with delivery confirmation but says it hasn't been received and seller wants refund?
Depends what kind of item and the price attatched to it. If you have proff of mailing it out an dthe confirmation of delivery it rests soley on USPS. You do not have to give him his money back because if you do then technically your items is now lost.. so what next.. still gotta approach USPS... So he/she has to take it up with them.. if you hold all the proof then its not your fault.. i would assist in trying to find that package or helping the consumer come to a resolution... not your fault though... assuming all the confirmations are legit.
In the future offer and reccomend insurance... or just absorb the cost of insurance that way you wont have to deal with this stuff... all in all packages should not be lost.. insurance or not.. it HAS to be somewhere.. or its stolen.... or like you sai dhe got the item and trying to rip you off.I mailed a package USPS with delivery confirmation but says it hasn't been received and seller wants refund?
find out the trackinjg number usps should have it and have them track it,plus the other party has to sign for pckg, ask company if he did

I sent a package to a friend today, now I am worried..?
It is nicely packaged with lots of protection, but I did not put any insurance, tracking nor a delivery conformation on it. It is going from Florida to New york priority mail. will it get there safely ?? The post office told me it will be there by the 27th. I know US postal service sometime mess things up, and package get lost and stolen, etc.
:(I sent a package to a friend today, now I am worried..?
The Post Office delivers thousands of packages safely and on schedule every day. Only a very small percent go missing.I sent a package to a friend today, now I am worried..?
I have sent out hundreds of boxes, only two got lost in the last 10 years. This includes packages I've sent overseas to Europe, up to Canada and to Australia. The post office does a good job. Don't worry about it.I sent a package to a friend today, now I am worried..?
Printing the usps label online would have given you D/C for free %26amp; less cost for priority mail than at the post office.

I sold on ebay & sent the item but buyer says he never received it?
what do i do? I sent it by us postal service 2 weeks ago. buyer sent me an email saying that he didn't receive anything. %26amp; there was no insurance %26amp; dvd sold for $12 plus $3 shipping. what do I do? do I have to give him a full refund? he paid through paypal.I sold on ebay %26amp; sent the item but buyer says he never received it?
Do you have the receipt from shipping it? That's proof it went out. If they didn't pay to have it insured, that's their loss. You're not responsible for it once it gets mailed.
My other questions are: where was it sent from/mailed to and what form of shipping did you use (priority, etc.).
You sent it, send him a copy of the receipt. I would notify the buyer of that fact along with your condolences and that you won't be issuing a refund or sending a replacement.I sold on ebay %26amp; sent the item but buyer says he never received it?
When I sold via ebay it was imperative that I got the receiver to sign for it. It was only a little bit extra to pay but well worth it.
If you don't do that then 5 out of ten people will say they never recieved it.
It's a jungle out there.
he shouldn't pay anything,I sold on ebay %26amp; sent the item but buyer says he never received it?
If you used media mail, all you probably received was a postal receipt for the amount of postage paid. If that receipt doesn't contain anything that would indicate that the shipment was to the buyer's address (or even zip code), I'm afraid you are SOL. If he makes a claim thru PayPal, you'll have no actual proof, and they will refund his money from your account.
If, however, your receipt does have some significant info on it, send a copy to the buyer, explaining that you mailed the item as promised. Having used media mail in the past, I have found that it does, at times, take 2-3 weeks for a package to get through.

In order to safely sell expensive jewelry to international buyers on Ebay, what must I know?
I am disabled and cannot spend a lot of time on the computer, or else I would research all this myself. I have sold things on ebay, but never internationally. My ex-husband has been asking me to get the wedding set out of the safe deposit box and sell them for 3 years now!! I feel that I will get a better price on ebay than just taking them into a local shop. I have been putting it off, because I don't know what I have to deal with to open up the bidding to international buyers.
I am concerned about any and all legal considerations, postal regulations, insurance, and possible scams. I want this to go smoothly. I only accept Paypal, but I don't know if this is sufficient for me to be safe. I was planning to put the best picture I can take and a copy of a recent appraisal on the ebay ad, but block out all of the personal information. What else can you tell me? Thanks very much!In order to safely sell expensive jewelry to international buyers on Ebay, what must I know?
When you go to the post office you just have to fill out a customs form explaining where it is going and what it is. Its simple. Sometimes customs will open your package and make sure what you are sending is what you stated. There is no way around this, but it usually never causes an issue.
The biggest pain will be finding out for people how much shipping will be. You can get "quotes" from the post office though.
Insurance will work the same as if you would send it nationally. Typically you add it into the cost of the shipping.
PayPal is the safest way to sell and purchase. I never have worries with PayPal.
If you do not want to sell to international buyers, you can state on your auction that you ship only to the US.In order to safely sell expensive jewelry to international buyers on Ebay, what must I know?
Make sure you check the buyers feedback ratings to see how honest they are. Make sure you get full payment cleared in paypal before you ship.
International bidders can see your ads just fine, you don't have to open the ad to them also.
I cut out international shipping long ago due to all of the extra hassles and problems, I lost about 3% of my customers with that move.
About that same time, I put in the bottom of my ads that I will take Paypal only, its easier for everyone involved in the transaction and simplifies my bookkeeping. Paypal is perfectly safe, its the best way to keep card and account numbers private.
To find the ebay value of your items, search for items like yours and down the left side, click something like "Completed Listings" and search again. That will give you a goldmine of info. Those are only completed or closed auctions in the last month or so. The prices in red are auctions that didn't sell for that price or were closed by the seller. The prices in green are the auctions that sold for that price.
Shipping: For the lowest price, ship by Fedex Ground. UPS Ground is much slower (7 to 8 days) and more expensive. I gained some negative feedbacks and tons of questions from buyers for shipping by UPS Ground. I gained several positive feedbacks for shipping by Fedex Ground (2 to 4 day) or USPS Priority Mail (1 or 2 day).

Fellow business owners & social health care?
do you see social health care as a good thing?
I have a small business and I still work at my Bull Sh!t postal job for the insurance. Do you think having social health care will promote small business growth and encourage more people to take a chance.Fellow business owners %26amp; social health care?
No, because UHC does NOT work anywhere it is tried. It leads to RATIONED care and BANKRUPTCY without exception.
However, the present system is unconscionable AND unnecessary.
You might want to write your elected pols about a sensible plan:
There IS a sensible plan that does NOT force patients on it with fear of fines; does NOT impose the costs on employers; does NOT raise our taxes; and DOES resolve another abuse of the taxpayer in its funding, provides for preventative care (moral and economical), and would prevent bankruptcies (more than half are caused by medical bills and most of those folks have insurance). If private parcel companies can compete with the Government why not private insurance providers?
I hear conservative boo hooing 24 hours a day about how a government run public healthcare plan will make it too hard for private industry to compete, yet i see loads of parcel companies (like UPS, DHL, FedEx, etc.) holding their holding their own against the United States Postal Service!
so whats the big deal? is it possible that republicans are afriad a country for the people by ethe people will choose the better deal given by the governement in a free market? or that their lobbying buddies won't be able to pay them kickbacks anymore...lol?If private parcel companies can compete with the Government why not private insurance providers?
Good point. The USPS getting competition from private firms like Fed-X and UPS has worked. Assuming the reverse is true, US Gov't backed insurance could add competitive pressure that keeps private health insurers from a virtual monopoly. Gov't insurance might require a tax increase, but you employer won't have carry huge expensive health insurance plans that make it impossible to hire people.
It is a cop out.
Do you really think they will use facts? When they can parrot the AM radio talkers.
Does it matter they are fighting something that is in their own best interest?
When was the last time in memory the GOP base fought for something that was in their own best interest? If private parcel companies can compete with the Government why not private insurance providers?
Anything that might cut into the profit margins of the HMOs is against freedom and anti-American.
The USPS is a private company. You fail epically. If private parcel companies can compete with the Government why not private insurance providers?
Umm... I don't know how to tell you this but the United States Postal Service is not free or Government run !!!I think the reason the Private Sector is once again beating the government is because they are better run, more efficient, and they have competing prices. UPS,DHL,FedEx,etc. are holding their own against the government because of competitive pricing and service.
Now let鈥檚 review Universal Healthcare. Competitive based healthcare is sold at a price competing against other firms. Now if the government comes in and offers healthcare for free the private firms are going to loose a ton of business. And in this economy loosing a ton of business will mean disaster for the private sector. Do you honestly think corporations/businesses will continue to offer health care coverage at unbelievable expense to their bottom line when Big Daddy Government is offering coverage to everyone? Of Course Not!! Bottom line is the Private Sector will get slammed if universal healthcare is initiated. It's that simple.
The government runs all their banks too - the Federal Reserve Banks sets interest rates.
I guess once they're effectively conditioned, they become harmless and ineffectual as cons.
An interesting and little-known aspect of mail law is that the USPS has a legal monopoly on mail delivery, and occasionally grumbles about trying to enforce that monopoly against competitors. They have also grumbled about electronic mail, saying that, technically, each e-mail should have a stamp affixed.
I have to agree that there are members of the Congress that are whores for the insurance companies. With that said...
There is this myth that large corporations are more efficient than the government. There are different factors that drive corporations over what drives the government. There are both corporations and government agencies are well managed and poorly managed.
General Motors was a large corporation that had to be rescued by the government.
AIG, another large corporation that had to be rescued by the government.
Then there is Citicorp (Citibank) and Bank of America. Now to be fair, Bank of America was in good shape until it took on toxic assets from a Wall Street investment banks.
All of those corporations were hard core Republican financial supporters until a year ago and as they circled the drain they all cried for help from Uncle Sam after all Bush was their guy right?
Any government driven to make a profit is totally corrupt and managing a failed state. The government collect taxes to pay for services it provides. Tax and spend is exactly the function of government. Actually tax, spend, and provide the services the money was spent on.
Health Care should never be subject to the "Market" because in the market the only thing that matters is profit. The more you make, the stronger the company, and the less you make, the weaker the company. If a profit driven corporation has to chose between profit and saving lives it will chose profit every time. Most hospitals are NON-profit corporations, and so should the HMOs. The function of HMOs is to finance health care, and they have denied health care to their clients because it was not profitable. People died because there was no money in saving them. That doesn't make the US great it puts us on a slippery slope to becoming a third world country.
Private companies can compete against a public health care system as the private parcel companies compete against the Postal Service. By the way, the Postal Service is losing money, not because of mismanagement but because of faxes, PDF files and email the demand to move hard mail is way down. The private parcel companies aren't doing all that well either.
I think the compromise is non-profit health care companies.
@ Tubby: The USPS is a government agency. YOU epic fail.
Well next time you need to go to the hospital call fed ex not an ambulance.
If I want to send a package, I will find out within a matter of days whether the service I choose is adequate. How long are the lines. How much does it cost. How quickly does the package arrive.
So the government's business is priced at around the same rate as everyone else. But they lost nearly $2 billion last year http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/topsto鈥?/a> costing the tax payers a lot But the private businesses do just as good of a job, yet with money left over. So why can't the post office?

One big difference is the fact that government insurance will be handed out to many. And the number of people who qualify for good insurance will increase with time. The sliding scale will slide to include more %26amp; more people. How can a private insurance company compete with FREE! So those who buy their own insurance will be the richer peopoe who will also be paying for the other peopel's insurance with their taxes.
so whats the big deal? is it possible that republicans are afriad a country for the people by ethe people will choose the better deal given by the governement in a free market? or that their lobbying buddies won't be able to pay them kickbacks anymore...lol?If private parcel companies can compete with the Government why not private insurance providers?

Do you think it is worth getting a bit of insurance?
There is always the slight possibility that the electorate really are stupid enough to vote Gordon and his cronies back in to ruin the country, or Labour might try to rig a few ballots again as they did in Birmingham a few years back with forged postal votes.
Do you think it is worth investing in Gold now, as prices continued to rise after Gordon sold off our gold reserves?
This would protect yourself against the collapse of the Pound as Labours recession sends the country bankrupt?
I have already converted a few thousand to bullion to protect myself, and it is increasing in value at a better rate than money in the bank.Do you think it is worth getting a bit of insurance?
Gold is always a sound investment for individuals no matter what govt gets in at the moment, I think I might get some myself. Let's face it, if you stick your money in the bank it's not going to make much more the way they keep printing the stuff and devaluing the pound.
It's interesting that Brown sold all that gold, and he even told the WHOLE world what day he would sell it..... so the price came tumbling down. Can't remember the figures, but we're billions out of pocket now because the price has risen so much since then. But now, we have these huge advertising campaigns on UK telly urging you to 'sell' your old gold. I suspect that the govt is behind this realising it's mistake and trying to increase it's gold reserves again, though I just cannot prove it.
And here was me thinking it was a foregone conclusion. Better buy some more of that gold - although I prefer my ex Government utilities that the tories sold cheaply :)Do you think it is worth getting a bit of insurance?
(I understand the relativity to current market conditions and factors and all that but) I think in a systematic economic collapse, gold is probably most likely to become irrelevant. Over 80% of the gold in the world is jewelry or speculation reserve - to me, that means gold is an essentially useless material of no value. Yeah, I suppose conventional logic says you'll do okay... as long as financial interests successfully force governments to continue enforcing a gold standard but the market supported value of gold is a wafer thin veneer of superstitious belief that will collapse like a flaming dirigible in the reality of a real economic or social collapse. The stock of the future is cooperation, adaptation and survival. Gold is about the worst material in the world for a functional tool and you can't eat it either, so I don't see the population of a post collapse apocalypse scenario recognizing any value at all in gold (if anything, showing it to anybody would probably be an ill advised provocation most likely to conclude with injury).
If I were you I would buy land. If new labour get in again you might end up having to grow your own food.Do you think it is worth getting a bit of insurance?
if labour get in invest in arms dealers, well need the weapons to protect ourselves from the marauding hordes of fresh immigrants and bogus asylum seekers. Its estimated 1 in 7 bogus asyl;um seekers and economic migrants have at some time commited a serious offense, rape seems to be a favourite of the guilty ones who were actually caught but fled justice to our country as asylum seekers.
Be careful, gold is very volatile.
The price depends entirely on sentiment. It always rises when things are difficult but it will drop like a stone as people feel more optimistic.
Labour are toast, and things will stabilise when the Tories are elected.
Watch the price daily, and sell as soon as it starts to slide.
If I had a single penny to scratch my @rse with I'd join you but as it is .......................... Anyway if Labour get back in where do I apply for the painless lethal injection ?

Liberals: now that obama has hijacked the financial, auto, health insurance and student loan industries...?
what private, for-profit industry will he takeover next?
maybe the government can squeeze out Apple. instead of an iPod we can all buy oPods... they'll be twice as expensive, hold half as much music and wear out in a year or two... but we'll subsidize them so that everyone can afford one. plust they can be pre-loaded with obama's speeches, a copy of his e-book and photos of the first family.
or maybe a czar and government agency can take over our professional sports leagues... they'll implement affirmative action (so that the talent level goes down but it's more PC) and all games will end in tie scores so that everyone's self-esteem is kept high.
the more government involvement in private industry the better... right?
i mean, does anyone even use FedEx to send packages when the US Postal Service is avaialble?Liberals: now that obama has hijacked the financial, auto, health insurance and student loan industries...?

They haven't been taken over, for crying out loud. They still hire, fire, plan products, market, and sell without government management.
The student loan money was always government money - why should the banks be involved in the lending - it's a government program?
These businesses receive funds from the government and must obey laws - OH NO - money and laws why it must be socialism! Idiots.
Last thing I remember when I was smashed over the head was your insurance, banking, and auto industries begging me for billions while their top execs were flying around in Learjets. I don't even have enough for my child.
Something wrong? You bet. It ain't me, however.
Hijacked the financial industries? Wow, what selective memory...Bush and the Fed paid almost 2 Trillion dollars to bail out Wall Street firms like AIG.
I'm all for selling off the USPS since FedEx and UPS can deliver mail and packages.
For some strange reason you think an iPod isn't an already expensive restrictive MP3 player.

My parents have complied and restrained their dog, postal carrier still won't deliver?
My parents had their dog outside one day and she ran up to the mailman and barked at him. She is a 13 year old cocker spaniel. He maced her and laid into my dad saying that he chooses not to carry insurance and that if she would have bitten him, he would have gotten the best care and he would have sued them. I do not dispute that he could do that, but he was very rude about it. My mom immediately took measures to make sure the dog was inside the house so that she could not reach him during delivery agian and she called his supervisor to say that she had complied and ask when her mail could be delivered again. It took her 3 days just to reach this lady and when she asked if someone else could help her, they said no. She finally reached the lady who said the mail should be delivered the following Saturday. I was at their house this day and he again passed them by. I went out and confronted him and asked why, after they complied with what was asked of them he did not deliver and he gave me the runaround about talking to his supervisor again and said they did not believe my parents took it seriously. My parents did take it seriously and my mom now panics every time the dog goes near the door. I told him this and he had no response other than to refer me to his supervisor again. I went inside and my mom called her. She said she thought it had been taken care of and told my mom her mail would be delivered on Monday. This had been 7 days since the incident. Monday came and again he did not deliver. My question is, can they legally not deliver my parents mail after they have already complied with what was asked of them? My parents were not rude in any way and yet I feel like this mailman and his supervisor have it in for them. My parents did not want to make an issue out of it, but I think it's ridiculous and I opened a formal complaint with the USPS about it. I could understand if my parents had several offenses against them, but this was a first. My parents have complied and restrained their dog, postal carrier still won't deliver?
I was going to suggest the complaint...but I see you have already done that...If his supervisor said he would deliver he should follow orders the dog is no longer out...He is just a jerk...that is what the problem is...you can tell by the way he handled the incident...
I am not sure about the legalities of him not doing his job
but he should be reprimanded (suspended or fired)
he is derelict in his duties
That is what normally happens when you don't do the work at your job...
ur carrier is a douche... clearly the dog is inside. he is doing to be an a$$My parents have complied and restrained their dog, postal carrier still won't deliver?
Please take this as meant. My 13 yr old daughter came to stay with me. We walked down the street and the neighbors dog ran out barking. I yelled at it to stop. The owners sat watching. The dog bolted around me and bit her in the stomach.
Now we still walk. I carry a stick and as a martial artist am well trained in its use. Dogs come out and I yell them off quick but I am not going to let her or myself get bit again by reacting to slowly. If I am advanced on I will hit first.
I realize you do have an arguement but it is hard on the other side when you are physically threatened or at least percieve it.
As to the legality of it all I am unsure.
No, the postal carrier should be delivering your mail. He has a legal right to suspend delivery as long as the dog is not restrained, but once the dog has been taken care of, he should resume.
Since you've already begun a formal complaint, there's not much more you can do until the complain is addressed. If it isn't taken care of within 30 days, write to your Congressman and tell him or her what is going on, and ask that they intervene. A congrit (congressional investigation) MUST be answered within 5 days.
My parents have complied and restrained their dog, postal carrier still won't deliver?
Your post carrier is within his/her legal rights to deny you home delivery under circumstances believed, reasonably or not, to be life threatening or endangering. Your mail will still be regularly available at the local post office for pick-up.
I recommend you stop with the USPS formal complaint likely to be responded to by either the USPS or the carriers union representative.
These situations I find best resolve beginning with a plate of "brownies" to the carrier at the post office. (My last resolution began with two dozen bagels and a pound of cream cheese).
Understand you carrier has many concerns and job issues above and beyond facing your spaniel. No one needs the further complication of having ones legs and thighs ripped up by a spaniel. (At least its not a doberman or pit bull)
See if mutual grounds can exist for a solution such as a post office box on the street or having the dog tethered in view at the time of mail delivery.
Can you get your dog trained to be less territorial?
I see where you are influenced by the notion that this is the first complaint against your folks. I respectfully disagree and do not believe the dog is entitled to one "free" bite before your carrier is entitled to withhold service.
The problem is with the dog not the carrier. And when there is a problem with the dog, the real issue is the dog owner(s). Your dog needs training and self-control. if your parents cannot take care of this themselves they need contact a dog trainer. If this does not work, they can select between picking up mail at the post office or finding the dog a new home.
The USPS has the right to temporarily stop delivery if the carrier feels that they are being put into an unsafe situation, they must give you notice of this. If they feel that the situation has not been resolved they may have your parents pick their mail up at the post office.
It sounds like they did what they could to keep the carrier safe in the future. If they don't start delivering soon, or give you other options to get the mail I would file another complaint.kayaks used car values

If they don't start delivering soon, or give you other options to get the mail I would file another complaint.
Postal carrier suing for dog inside the house?
Back in December the woman who delivers my mail twisted her ankle on my front step. She said it happened because she was startled by my dog who jumped against the screen door and barked when she was delivering the mail. We have a very strong, steel barred screen door that is always locked and so the dog didn't get out of the house and there's no way he could have come in physical contact with her. Last week (May, five months after the incident) I got a letter in the mail from a law firm informing me she's suing for this. Is there any way I'm going to be held liable? Can I countersue for a frivolous lawsuit? I do have homeowners insurance so I'm sure any judgement against me would be covered but I'm inclined to do anything and everything I can to ensure this woman does not get a penny on principle alone!Postal carrier suing for dog inside the house?
Total crap; get your insurance company and it's lawyer involved.
I agree with wiz. This is mainly your insurance company's problem.
Don't worry too much about keeping money from her on "principle". Principle is a good way to end up paying out a lot more money than you need to.Postal carrier suing for dog inside the house?
Just pass this information on to your home owner's insurance and let them hash it out. That's what you (hopefully) pay them for.
You have two approaches on this...
Fight it or pay her off.
To fight it, Get a lawyer.
First thing to find out is how long that mail carrier was on the job and if she had delivered to your house before. Then check the dates of when the dog was there. If you can prove she had delivered before and the dog was there before, then you can show that she was aware of the dog and it should not have scared her. If you can show she had ANY contact with the dog before, that would be even better.
It that turns out not the case and this was the first time she delivered to your house, you still might be covered.
Your lawyer can check with the post office and see if they had any "dog warning" notices on your house. Mail carriers have those to warn replacement mail carriers about "bad dogs" along their routes. If there was a note that you had a dog then she had no reason not to know about it.
Also, If you had a sign on the outside of the house or on the gate into your yard saying "beware of dog" then you are pretty much covered as you did give warning there was a dog there.
What you need to prove is she knew you had a dog and therefore should not have been startled by it.
Also, have your lawyer make a small token offer to settle. Make it small so she will reject it. Once that is done, when she loses the case, she will have to pay legal fees as you did offer to settle.
In the meantime, put a mail box at the curb so she does not even have to get her butt out of the mail truck!
The other option is to pay her off.
If she is asking for just a few thousand dollars, this would be the better approach. In conjunction with your homeowners insurance company, make an offer about half of what she is demanding, unless it is totally out of line. If she is open to being paid off, she will probably come back with asking for 75% and you agree.
However if she is asking for a LOT of money, fight it. Dogs is an occupational hazard of being a mail carrier and she should not be allowed to make a ton of money because a dog jumped on a screen door.Postal carrier suing for dog inside the house?
I think that the allegation is that your dog jumping up on the door startled the mail carrier and because of this she fell or lost her footing and twisted her ankle. I do not think that she is trying to say that the dog actually knocked her over or that the mail carrier felt that the dog could have attacked her. I think it is the idea that the dog suddenly jumped up against the door and scared her. The argument will probably be that the dog should have been contained better so that it could not startle people. I would not be surprised if this case actually wins. I bet that they have came along with a video camera sometime and secretly filmed the dog jumping against the door just to show how alarming it could be. Also, this might depend on the condition of the area around your door and whether or not you have advertised that there is a dog on the property. I highly doubt that a countersuit from you will do much good. This case might not be frivilous at all.
It's not frivolous, the case probably has merit. The fact that the screen door is strong and locked is only evident to you. If I am not expecting it, and a large dog lunges at me through a screen door, I don't know that the door will hold it back, and I'm going to be startled.
You can argue in court that the mail carrier should have expected this as part of their job; and that they'd been to house before (if they had) and would have previously seen the dog (if they would have). These are facts in mitigation.
Your home insurance policy includes liability insurance for just this kind of issue. Forward all correspondence to them, and don't talk to the lawyers or the mail carrier until this is settled. If you talk to the other parties, your insurance company might say you've damaged the case and refuse to cover you.
hey if it was your best friend, and your dog, which needs a strong steel door to restrain it, barked and startled or frightened them , and they fell on the step s and got hurt, they could still sue you.
You would be wasting your time fighting it.
Not only that, you probably have to let the homeowner's insurance handle it according to the terms of your policy, otherwise they will not pay any settlement or judgment.
Anyway, you think after 200+ years, the Post Office of all places doesn't know about dog laws and liability?
You'd be better off investing your time and effort in training your dog to not bark at people, or to get a mailbox that is away from the house, and a "Beware of Dog" sign.
I would just go to court and let the judge tell her how ridiculous her lawsuit is. She is a mail person. They know they could come n contact with dogs. She should have been more aware. I am sure this is not the only dog she comes across. You have made sure that they dog could not get out. So you have done your part. Not to mention, how can she really prove that your dog caused her to sprain her ankle. Its her word against the dogs. Not gonna happen. I just saw on the news a dog that got out , ran into the street, and was struck by a car. The car owner sued the family for damages to his vehicle and lost because you have to prove that the homeowner intentionally did something wrong. So she really has no case. And yes I would at least countersue for the legal fees. Maybe for the future you should have a "Beware of dog" sign posted so you won't have to worry about it happening again.

US Postal Service lost my package being sent to Russia?
Had to send a package to a family member in Russia which had a phone worth about $150 inside. I went to my post office, filled out the custom forms and everything, and then asked for insurance and tracking. The lady pretty much talked me out of it, telling me how there is no reason to get the additional insurance an tracking and that it would come out to 40+ dollars, and that the person would still get the package. So I payed the 11.50 or whatever it is for express international and sent it on its way Oct. 30th. Today, Dec. 6th, my family member said that the item had yet to come in. What can I do to try and find my package? The day I sent it, the NE (I'm in Connecticut) was hit with a snowstorm and we were a few days without power. Could it have gotten messed up in that time? Will I ever see the item or will it ever get to Russia for my family?US Postal Service lost my package being sent to Russia?
Wait.
1 month and 6 days is not a reason to panic for Russian post before New Year holidays and for parcel without tracking number. If it doesn't come in 2 months than it is really worrying.
Without tracking 2 months is perfect time.
I think it will come. Just be patient.

US Postal Service Question! Urgent!?
OK Today I dropped off a payment in the slot where it says "mail drop in" but then I noticed that there wasn't a cart in front of it and now I'm worried that the insurance company won't receive my payment.
Will the workers collect my payment and put it in the cart? Please help I'm Really stressed right now.US Postal Service Question! Urgent!?
Relax before you stroke out. There doesn't necessarily have to be a cart there.

Calling all postal employees....serious only please!?
My sister sent me a package and it arrived smashed to bits and it was very well packed, box was smashed.
To file a claim for the purchased insurance, who files the claim? She is the shipper and has the receipts but I have the damaged goods.Calling all postal employees....serious only please!?
She files the claim. If it was smashed, though, the claim will probably be denied - they'll say she should have used a heavier box.Calling all postal employees....serious only please!?

Why not universal health care in America?
So what if it's "Socialist"?
A lot of programs in America are 'Socialist' i.e. Teachers, Libraries, Postal Service
The problem with health care in america is that insurance companies make money. Insurance should be a governmental program because if they are making money, that means that they're exploiting their customers. Countries such as Britain, Canada, and France have universal health care and their average life expectancy is higher. Why not have it in America? Why not universal health care in America?
Well Jet
The main reason that we don't have it here -- is the Doctors AND the Insurance lobbies and their alliances with the "congressional" hoard by way of the millions of dollars that they have POURED into the lobbying against it !!!
Truth is -- there is an unholy intertwining of the American Medical group and the Insurance "thing" within the country that is bleeding BILLIONS out of the American people !! And, they do NOT want this "gravy train" to be derailed and are ready to do ANYTHING to see that it isn't !!!
Under a "universal" health care situation -- Doctors would still be able to make major money -- just not the killing that they are getting at present -- for their services would be "capped" to a "reasonable" "averaged" status !! And Insurance companies would be limited in input and involvement by way of having to settle for the "sideline" policies that insured the outside perimeter of the common "universal" coverage on such items as "specialized care" and etc. !! This is another item that would get into the Doctors' wallets for ---- unknown to an awful lot of people ----- Doctors themselves are HEAVILY invested in the insurance business !!! This being a CLEAR comflict of interests according to the standards set for MOST businesses --- but one that is allowed within present day law BECAUSE OF their contributions to and support of so many candidates AND sitting political figures !!!
Which is a major case of --- undue influence !!!
SO -- the reason that we do not have universal health care in this country --- is NOT that the people in DC are that concerned about our QUALITY of care -- or the EFFIECIENCY of that care -- or even the COST of that care on the Federal level ---- it is because of the Doctor / Insurance Lobby -- and their undue influences in Congress --- protecting the "killing floor" that they have set and running ON the American Public !!!!
THeir life expectancies are higher because a PROVEN fact they go to other countries to get the procedures they would have to wait on in Universal Healthcare WorldWhy not universal health care in America?
universal health care will be less expensive overall and be better quality.
We should have no socialist programs in America. Yes, that means the government has to give up control of the Post Office (did you know it's illegal to send personal correspondence via a private carrier?) and public schools (why else do people want vouchers?). If we give the government control over healthcare, it will just be another program hemorrhaging money and doing a poor job at providing service. Why not universal health care in America?
Taxes will go sky high ... free health care ain't free ... the feds will run health care and decide if you have to see a doctor ... longer waiting periods to even see a doctor ... the feds will make more rules about smoking, eating, taking risks, etc. since they're paying for your health care from your taxes ... we have the best health care in the world right now, why fix it? ... besides I don't want to pay for all the smokers, dopers, promiscuous people, risk takers, etc.
I just want to see a doctor on a timely basis when I'm sick and pay for it with my own money. I don't want the feds taking care of me and I don't want to live in a nanny state.
The problem is with our culture. It's not capitalism so much as it is how WE see capitalism. The highest value in our culture is profit. Success is measured by profit, return on investment. For instance, if someone tells you his uncle is a successful doctor, you know that doesn't mean he's good at helping people or has a good bedside manner, 'successful' just means he makes a lot of money.
For insurance companies the highest priority in health care is not keeping people healthy or making people healthy, it's maximizing profits. And often they can do this better by denying care than by providing it. The insurance companies are among the biggest contributors to political candidates and parties, so they get what they want.
President Clinton had a plan to vaccinate ever kid in America at federal expense. His proposal showed how this could be done, by the govt. buying millions of doses of vaccine and making them available to everyone. He showed this was very cost-effective in terms of the vaccine being much cheaper than x-number of kids getting sick who would then have to be cared for at govt. expense. The vaccine manufacturers would have gotten a fair profit for the drugs, so everyone should be happy, right?
The plan was killed by the vaccine mfgrs. They did some quick math and found they could make more money vaccinating only 80% of American kids at the full rate than 100% at the cut rate, even though they would still have made a profit. Their lobbyists told Congress they didn't want the plan, so it was dropped.
Mind you, those vaccines were developed at public expense!
That's why we don't have universal health care. Canada was wise enough to kill the health insurance industry in its cradle. Today our health insurance industry actually owns the hospitals and clinics and the doctor work for them.
The Insurance Companies have prevented affordable universal health care. They suck all the money out and bribe all the Politicians.
I guess you haven't heard of the word "greed". Our Drug companies don't care about a drug to cure anything unless it'll make tons of money. ED is a case in "point". Insurance companies don't care about "caring " for anyone, just getting the premium. As long as we have Republicans in the back pocket (and many have gotten jobs as lobbyists for drug companies) of insurance and drug companies...the US citizen is in a heap of "doo doo".
If our government were able to successfully handle socialized anything, I would say that socialized medicine would be a life send to, at the very least, me. I can not and will not speak for America in it's entirety. But, I can speak for me when I say that socialized medicine is a wonderful concept.
In my opinion, which I formed despite numerous reports that contradict not only me, but each other as well, S.M. is something that works very well outside America. But, I don't think that it will translate well into the language that is commonly spoken by our government and by our existing health care system - The language of Greed.
Why make it free when you are profiting so well on it in it's current, flawed, and monopolized state?
We have the best health system in the world because of the competition that exists in this system. Universal health care would eliminate this competition. Just ask all the people from other countries who come here for medical attention instead of waiting months in their own countries.
Well, to be frank, it is because the free market has always ferretted out things that don't work. If someone tried to make something or market something bad, the idea or the company died. It is the same with Healthcare, the market will ferret out the bad institutions. It is the trial lawyers and Governemtn that has caused prices to be so high. If doctors didn't haev to spend so much on malpractice insurance and the trial lawyers trying to sew everyone under the sun.
Socialised medicin means they will come knocking on your door, making legislation to raise your already high taxes. Americans already work 3 months out of the year to pay taxes and the government has proven themselves inept to be responsible with our money, and you want to give them more.
Once a Governmental system is in place, people will be pressured to join it and drop their individual coverage. The people that have none due to the high price will default to the Governmental programs. As all Governmental programs, they will have shortages, mismanaged money, not enough to go around, so they will start rationing who they help or who is applicable.
You tout UK, France and Canada....so why is it UK is asking pregnant mothers not to show up at the hospitals and have in-home birthing if the system is soooo good ? Why are people that need urgent care for cancer and the like on 6 month waiting lists in Canada ? Some Canadians skip across to the American side of the border to get treatments. France has been in turmoil because their socialized medicine is bankrupting the country.
This is what you want for America ??
Why is it you are sooo willing to trust a political entity with you and your loved one's health ? They are not experts and they usually...as most Government entities....do a substandard job.
We need change, I agree, and I'd like to see the Government simply just out right pay hospitals for an annualized account of all the bandaids and gauze they use in treating minor wounds. Government should also fund this by dropping some of their pork project / earmarked monies without adding taxes. Anything more than mino wounds should be through personal insurance or maybe subsidized through social security or other funds. But since SS is bankrupt due to congress always borrowing from it, It might have to be a separate protected fund.
Your figures are wrong.
America has the second highest life expectancy in the world (second to Sweden).
People die while waiting for treatment in England. Canadian Doctors come here for serious treatment.
The reason is that people (read "liberals") assume that if you are not paying, it must be "free". So they won't pay for it.
Problem is, neither will anyone else.
The systems are ALL BROKE.
If you want an example of Government Healthcare, look at the VA Hospital system.
Full of lazy Liberals and flooded with "entitled" patients that clog the system to the point that the real vets can't get in for treatment.
My last appointment, I had to wait 11 months.
Don't want my kids and grandkids dying in line for treatment.
Being a Canadian, I can tell you, universal health care will make your taxes increase....ALOT!!! But, you won't have to spend on health insurance. It works out well. As soon as you hear "higher taxes", people say no. We, in Canada, don't have a lot of spending on our military, so we can afford to have the health care. Have a look at the documentary 'Sicko' by Michael Moore. He talks about the problem well. Remember - If you can find money to kill people, you can find money to save people. Hope this helps. Matt
Name just one thing that the Govt does well! With that in mind, you want this same Govt involved with your health care too?
Besides, why should my tax dollars go for your medical bills?
We are talking about a socialized health care system in a country of over 300 million people. Do your see a problem with that. Why should hard working Americans pay for somebody else medical expenses?
To Wilsonmathews:
To mention Michael Moores mockumentary "Sicko" negates your argument. Our system is not broke. As a matter of fact, my wife, who works an insurance company told me that there are a lot of discrepancies in "Sicko." Michael Moore has a problem of skirting the truth.
the premium for family medical coverage where I work is $100/wk. that is just what employees pay. the company has been absorbing the remainder and the increases for 5 years now. Coverage is average, high co-pay, no dental, minimal vision.
with premiums close to $200/wk total for family coverage that is about 22% of my weekly earnings. I can't see how universal single payer health insurance could cost much more if it was paid as a "tax"
the other thing is that if there were Socialized medicine a' la' Veterans administration, the wealthy people would have to get in line behind the poor people.... and because the wealthy have the power, they would rather the poor not have insurance.
Sister Godzilla, are you saying that you do not have health insurance? and that you pay the for all your medical yourself? Self insured? ever have an operation? how about an MRI, PT for that shoulder tear?
Why not indeed....
Btw, even if we had the best healthcare, you don't get ANY healthcare if you don't have money or insurance.

Lost postal packages?
maybe this is a vent more than a question, but how the heck can they loose 2 big boxes that are insured and clearly labled? MY husband mailed 2 big boxes and one to his mom, we are both in Texas. I'm in the city, her in the country. andshe got hers!! We called both post office locations and nothing! and they didn't give him a tracking number eventhough they should have since the insurance is more than 50bucks. Where could the packages be??Lost postal packages?
If your husband mailed the packages 'insured' for more than $50.00 he was handed a receipt when he mailed the packages. On this receipt is the tracking number.
Contrary to many answers, the Postal Service does not "lose' many parcels. Insured mail is accountable mail, so it is not in some postal persons basement.
I'd be curious to find out the outcome of your problem, when it is solved.
Well still no packages. They are not here, not at the originating post office and not at his old company at ft lee. The po here said the same thing, that over $50 he should have got a tr# but he called the po in ft lee where he sent it from and they said that is wrong. IDK. but it's still not here.
Something like this happened with my sister. Give it a little more time, and hopefully your package will show up. My sister's package (I sent her gifts), was left at her apartment complex, at the wrong apartment (GRRRRRR). The wrong-recipient was kind enough to toss the box at the apartment complex management office... who eventually redirected it to my sister. Hopefully, your box will show up soon. Or... maybe you can collect for the insured amount? Good luck.
I've worked for the postal service and let me tell you it's a wonder more stuff doesn't get lost the people don't care they just take their time work real slow. The staff there are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.Lost postal packages?
Well, they not lost, they are at a postal workers home. This is a rising concern many have mentioned. What I find sad, is the SOB probably makes more money than me and has better Medical and Retirement benefits. The government needs to investigate this and when a person is caught they need to be prosecuted. Along with government officials that take Laptops home and lose them.

Postal Service form 2480 - question?
I am interviewing for a USPS job as a rural carrier, so therefore they want me to fill out a driving record form. One part of the form is asking if I was involved in any accidents. I have been rear-ended once, not my fault, and while there was a police report and insurance claims, we did not go through court. Does anyone know if this information needs to be included? Or know if it will go against me in getting the job?Postal Service form 2480 - question?
If there was a police report, you need to put that on the form. It doesn't matter whose fault it was, the USPS wants to know about any and all accidents.
