Why Postal Worker get better heath insurance rate than other Federal Worker?

I am federal employee looking for the insurance plan rate, the postal worker has far better rate, something cost 50% less than other federal worker for the same plan. Is this something Union has negotiate the rate? Why Postal Worker get better heath insurance rate than other Federal Worker?
Both you and Caveat Emptor are correct. USPS workers are not civil service employees, primarily because the most powerful federal workers' union realized that it wouldn't have nearly the power that they do if they were part of that system. Hey, union leaders may be idiots, but they're not stupid! Why Postal Worker get better heath insurance rate than other Federal Worker?
Yes, the Union negotiates for each bargaining unit.....Just having the job puts you in a good position.......hopefully you will improve on the Insurance over time.

By the way, Postal Workers DO get Civil Service Credit.....You may have other choices on health plans which may give you better benefits for less money, check with your HR Dept at work. Please remember, whatever your FERS employer deducts for your insurance is Pre-Taxed it raises your net pay proportionately which is a pretty good discount when you think about it! Blessings, and good luck! RRDWhy Postal Worker get better heath insurance rate than other Federal Worker?
It depends greatly on what percentage of the premium is paid by the employer. Technically, postal workers are not civil service and haven't been for decades.
