Why do liberals hate the health insurance industry so much?

At least they could be fair, you know, and have a little balance. Maybe we could force some of the industries they love so much to compete against the government.

Let's force FedEx and UPS to compete against the postal service and watch them fail. Or maybe we could have the private schools face off against public schools, they wouldn't stand a chance.

Take that, liberals. Why do liberals hate the health insurance industry so much?
Finally an admission that the right is in bed with business interests and has their interests at heart and not that of the public. Did you get it. Do you like it , do you love it.
LOLWhy do liberals hate the health insurance industry so much?
"Let's force FedEx and UPS to compete against the postal service and watch them fail. Or maybe we could have the private schools face off against public schools, they wouldn't stand a chance."

Umm...we do. IDK, that might have been sarcasm that I missed, but they work just fine.
I think some of it has to do with how often the insurance companies deny coverage, while the executives rake in millions of dollars each year. Why do liberals hate the health insurance industry so much?
FedEx and UPS already do. The current state of the health insurance industry sucks. If you pay a premium, you should be covered. In some cases, this is not the case.
GREED! [THEY TAKE 40% OF EVERY HEALTH CARE DOLLAR %26amp; THEN TRY TO KEEP AS MUCH AS THEY LEGALLY CAN]

REFUSAL TO COVER

REFUSAL TO PAY

CANCELING THE FIRST TIME YOU GET SICK

CANCELING ON THE GROUNDS YOU DIDN'T TELL THEM ABOUT AN INFECTED HANGNAIL FROM 20 YEARS AGO.

FIRST OF ALL, THERE WILL BE NO NATIONALIZATION OF HEALTH CARE!

[I go to the Dallas VA Medical Center and the government doesn鈥檛 even run THAT!]

There is NO "OBAMA CARE" The plan[s] are being built by congress.

The ONLY THING THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO DO IS ADD AN OPTION:

NON-PROFIT INSURANCE FOR THE POOR %26amp; UNEMPLOYED

There are 45 million Americans who have NO health care options except Emergency Rooms!

The USA is 37TH in HEALTH CARE!

These are NOT my idea of the best!

THE WORST POSSIBLE CHOICE IS TO DO NOTHING!

Health care costs are:

Increasing 2-3 times faster than wages

Currently eating up 18% of our money

AND, WILL DESTROY OUR ECONOMY UNLESS WE FIX IT!

Want to know WHO DOESN鈥橳 want ANY CHANGE?

THE INSURANCE COMPANIES!

THEY EAT 40% OF EVERY HEALTH CARE DOLLAR.

For what we are already paying, WE COULD INSURE EVERY MAN, WOMAN %26amp; CHILD IN AMERICA WITH ZERO DEDUCTIBLE, ZERO COPAY COVERAGE!

OK, SO HOW WILL THEY PAY FOR IT?

%26gt;DRUG DISCOUNTS

%26gt;ELIMINATING WASTE

%26gt;LOCKING UP PEOPLE WHO COMMIT FRAUD

%26gt;CONCENTRATING ON PREVENTATIVE CARE

[Currently, the only option for the poor is the E.R. at county hospitals and that鈥檚 THE MOST EXPENSIVE CARE THERE IS!]

To report the lies, http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck/c鈥?/a>
They are longing for the day when it doesnt cost them a dime %26amp; Obama is helping them towards that goal.
I don't hate the Insurance companies. I just want to see the uninsured get coverage. That mostly includes the working poor.
If you love them so much why don't you send me money every month and I'll decide what I will cover...
Maybe because the health insurance industry lobbies against health care reform.

As a Liberal, I don't hate them, but I understand they are opposed to health care reform as set out by the Obama administration.
Hahaha, at first I was about to type in a diatribe of comments then I realized you're just plugging my brain. You damn plugger!
Have you ever dealt with them? Have you ever had them drop you because what you have is too expensive for them? I have. The health insurance business is a nightmare. May they rot in hell.

Oh, and who do you think FedEx and UPS competes against? The Easter Bunny?
Let's face it... the our whole infrastructure needs to be overhauled... including Congress, Sentate, highways, education as well as Health Care.

This is the United States and yet people go without any kind of health care. I'm sorry, but if this a God fearing nation, than God sucks the big one. Because only those with insurance or a fat wallet can afford health care? WRONG - it's immoral, it's unethical and what's more, it's not even Christian.

Why are conservatives so fearful of change? Why are conservatives so godd@mn greedy?
Mostly it's the insurance company 'death panels'.
I don't hate health care insurance. I think they;re too expensive and when people really need them their coverage in denied. That's not right. Plus, I think everyone American should have health care. Why are you so in love with health insurance all of a sudden? %26lt;3
Excuse me ? All any of us want is reasonable Premiums and we cannot get that from the System as is exists right now.

There are too many Madoffs filling their pockets.
That is not limited to liberals.

~
Um, good examples except they both prove OUR point.

Take that, conservative.

Wait, was this a joke? Sorry, if you meant it sarcastically it wasn't clear enough. And if you were being serious, and you couldn't possibly have been, try to put a little more critical thinking into your writing.
They want their health care for free they don't want to pay for it.
What are you raving about? The corporate health insurance providers have increased profits by 450% in the last nine years. Meanwhile 1 million insured Americans declare bankruptcy every year due to medical expenses, their insurance just went away.

Fedex and UPS do compete against the US Postal Service.

Private schools do compete against public schools and in grades, college entrants, they win, without public funds.

Why do you hate liberals?
Because it sucks.
The private insures are scamming every Americans in this country and have been for a 100 years . They have been rationing health care to us and raising the cost at a rate of 10% every year for years not to mention the out of pocket expense that have gotten outrages .These private insurance companies are no different from Madoff and his ponzi scheme or the wall street bankers .They are all corrupt crooks .

THE SECURITY YOU GET from health insurance reform:

* No Discrimination for Pre-Existing Conditions

* Insurance companies will be prohibited from refusing you coverage because of your medical history.

* No Exorbitant Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays

* Insurance companies will have to abide by yearly caps on how much they can charge for out-of-pocket expenses.

* No Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care

* Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as mammograms or eye and foot exams for diabetics.

* No Dropping of Coverage for Seriously Ill

* Insurance companies will be prohibited from dropping or watering down insurance coverage for those who become seriously ill.

* No Gender Discrimination

* Insurance companies will be prohibited from charging you more because of your gender.

* No Annual or Lifetime Caps on Coverage

* Insurance companies will be prevented from placing annual or lifetime caps on the coverage you receive.

* Extended Coverage for Young Adults

* Children would continue to be eligible for family coverage through the age of 26.

* Guaranteed Insurance Renewal

* Insurance companies will be required to renew any policy as long as the policyholder pays their premium in full. Insurance companies won't be allowed to refuse renewal because someone became sick.
Health Insurance rates are increasing at 8-9% a year while wages are decreasing.

500,000 american families file for bankruptcy due to uncover portions of medical care, EACH YEAR

Record numbers of companies are dropping health insurance group plans as they too are expensive.

Under the current system America is 37 th in the world for health care for its citizens

Americans on average have a 7 year disadvantage on life span!

I figure that is because Americans WANT to die sooner.
There are problems in the insurance industry, but government isn't the answer, as you already stated. The Post Office is going broke, and overwhelming numbers of public schools cannot perform (I blame that on the BOE another government entity).

So the solution is not more government it is less.
It is very simple. For PROFIT is for wealthy and well persons only.

"It鈥檚 True! Health Insurers Tell Congress They Cancel Policies of Sick Patients

Category: Laboratory News, Laboratory Pathology

Published: July 6 2009

Rescinding health policies of 20,000 people in past five years saved health insurers $300 million

For years, Americans have heard news stories about the sick patient whose health insurance policy was rescinded in the midst of a health crisis. Now comes public acknowledgement鈥攁t a Congressional hearing no less鈥攖hat this business practice exists!

Executives from three of the nation鈥檚 largest health insurers admitted to this practice when testifying at a Congressional investigation recently. Observers believe the surprisingly candid acknowledgement about health insurance recessions pretty much guarantees insurers will be excluded from the health care reform debate. It may even ensure inclusion of a government health insurance plan in the final legislation which passes."

How can anyone defend an Industry that promises coverage and takes peoples money while they are healthy then refuses to give coverage when they get ill?
I suggest that folks visit http://thesaurus.reference.com/ and find some alternative to the word "hate" which is used with wild disregard for accuracy. I feel that the "for private profit" model is entirely the wrong foundation for health care delivery, and that health care should be a public service like our library or parks services. Health care decisions should be based on the patient's best interest, not on how the choice of treatment will affect the physician's pay check. "Hate" has nothing to do with it. I don't hate anybody. I don't hate corporations either, I just love Ben %26amp; Jerry's and Newman's Own.
As someone who has changed jobs every few years--and I am average in that regard--I can tell you that filling out the paperwork and realizing a doctor you had with your last job's isn't covered with your new job's insurance really sucks. I am lucky that I have never been denied coverage or seen my premiums go up. But that doesn't mean it won't happen.

Liberals are not against people making a profit; they are against excessive profits at the expense of others. When doctors get incentives for denying treatment, that is wrong. When corporations post a loss, but the executives get massive bonuses, that is wrong. The fact that some of the corporations who took bailout money to give executives bonuses--when said executives should have gotten a lead parachute--is sickening; and trust me, I blame the corporations for this.

And as someone else pointed out, FedEx and UPS DO compete against the postal service. If you're sending something to someone, you pick the company that gets your letter or package where you want it to go 1) as quickly as possible and/or 2) as inexpensively as possible. When it comes to a letter, you usually pick the postal service. When it comes to a package, many people pick FedEx, UPS, or any of the other companies whose specialty is delivering packages.

As some conservatives love to say, it's what the market will bear. So why not take the same stand with health insurance companies. If they can't offer as good a product as any public option, well, isn't that just market forces?
You republicans.... you are so innovative in stealing from the American PPL. Your strategies to fight an idea, ways to make America the country that we once knew.

Using the words "if", "it could", only is an indication that you have nothing to bring to the table, at least not for 95% of America.

You are for Big Business. 8 years of that and the devastation that it has caused all around the world should even open the eyes of a blind man.

How much do you think legislators are getting to vote this down?

Edit:

LOL. The post office, FEDEX %26amp; UPS have been competing for years............ and for that matter.... private %26amp; public schools also.

Did you forget your meds or you a conservative fighting a losing battle............... a little frayed?
Yeah greedy insurance companies! Why the hell would a business want to make money?! What a bunch of bastards!

Liberals hate every profitable industry that is not government controlled. They think government can run a business better. Like a social security, public school, medicare? Those are working out great for us right??

But will they call the gov't greedy bastards when they hike our taxes to 60%. No they are blind sheep that would rather put there lifes in the hands of politicians than taking responsibility.
People shouldn't become millionaires on the backs of people who need medicine.
Stop being a lib and trying to deflate our arguments, you lib.

Right back at ya...I'm in no way, shape or form a lib...EVER!
