I hear a lot of people complaining about "big government." Do they even understand how taxation works?
Roads. Public schools. Postal services. Student aid. Food stamps. Unemployment insurance. Medicare. Police departments. Fire departments. National parks. Public libraries. Dozens more.
These are things that you pay for, with your taxes. I also pay for them, with mine. Sound pretty important, don't they? I garuntee you'd also be a "communist" if you woke up one day and these programs were gone.
What programs should we get rid of, which ones should we keep?
How big is "big government?"
And when do you plan to move to Somalia, a paradise of zero government?
But just rememberHow small should the government really be?
Personally, i think the way taxes work are sick, because the money goes to people who decide how important one thing is over another, like military, police, or libraries.
I think there that there should be a division of government, one for order(safety and security) which is a minor government, and one for improvement and education (libraries, schools etc) and both should be independent of big business. I think that safety and security is only as good as the libraries and schools that they are there to protect, and without a primary focus on improvement, we will just run around in circles in a state of securing our fears. And that when too much emphasis is placed on security, it undermines the very thing it is there to protect. There needs to be some major lines drawn, and improvement made a lot more accessible. That way the wealth of the nation would increase relative to the needs and motivations of the people minus all the junk that is being produced for encouragement of profit. All maintenance such as food, transportation, shelter etc should be in place first, and they need to be as efficient as they can possibly be to liberate progress. They all play a role, and they are all important in their own aspect. Right now we live in a system that compels people to twist good priorities. ICK People, the government, the media, just need to get their priorities straight ! I'd also like to add that for improvement, the people need to be in greater control, like the monetary system. There aught to be choices, and the money will flow to where the people gain the greatest benefits. And instead of the incentive of money, it will be the incentive to do good. Those who accomplish what people want will be given greater power. This will keep private interest and control out of the system, and give power to the people who are making real positive change. And it is government funded, so it will still be free and supported by the people. This is how to fix the school system. How small should the government really be?
anything the government created through confiscated taxes could be created through voluntary transactions if the demand for the product of service was there. government cant create things out of nothing.
the people lives in somalia actually improved when there was "no government" and when the UN "peacekeepers" stopped trying to create peace through violence. if somalia is that much better off without government, even with their lack of resources and technology, imagine how much better america could be without government. How small should the government really be?
The limitations of the federal government are outlined in the Constitution which is completely being ignored. Roads (not federal highways but things like city streets), police departments, fire departments, and public libraries should and are still currently managed by state and local governments. Each individual state should decide what is best for its people. The job of the federal government is primarily supposed to be defense.
To use some of your examples roads - should be state managed, postal services - eliminate it and allow fedex and UPS to deliver the mail they do a better job anyways, student aid - pay for school yourself (I did), food stamps - local food pantries, unemployment insurance - save your money in case you lose your job, don't tax savings, medicare - pay for your own health care, police and fire - local government national parks - state government managed, public libraries - local government
The world would function with a smaller federal government
The Federal government does not supply local police %26amp; fire or libraries. We had great public schools before the federal government got involved
Judging by the way things are going, Medicare, and the Post office will be gone in 10 years.

United States Postal Service Tracking Question?
I sold an item on ebay, and shipped it to the buyer on September 12th. Yesterday she opened a claim saying that her item was never received. When i shipped her item, i never got tracking/conformation/insurance etc. I was wondering if i could go to the post office today, and get some kind of proof that her item WAS actually sent. Like could they give me tracking information?
Thanks :)United States Postal Service Tracking Question?
I hate to tell you, but you're going to have to learn this one the hard way. I'm a seller too (powerseller) and have done this for years. NEVER ship an item without delivery confirmation (at the bare minimum!)
You will have no recourse with paypal, etc . If the parcel does not turn up, you will lose your case and they will return the money from your account to her.
Personally, I think their system sucks, but Greedbay is not always known for their fairness.
Next time, print your label online (Through Paypal) and that way it's all right there at your fingertips, and delivery conf. is automatically issued.
United States Postal Service Tracking Question?
No. You can't go back to the post office and ask them for tracking/proof of mailing/anything of the sort on something that you've already mailed. Tracking isn't placed on packages unless *you* purchase it at the time you're mailing it. Once it's in the system that's it, it's gone - it's either taking it's sweet time floating around and will get delivered eventually or the buyer received it and she's lying through her teeth.
Always, always, always get delivery confirmation [which technically ISN'T tracking but PayPal usually accepts it - if you print out a label through PP, it's only $.18 unless you're shipping by Priority, and then it's free] when you sell on eBay for this very reason because this happens a *lot* and PayPal will always refund the buyer without proper proof from the seller. Doesn't work for international packages, though - for those you have to pay for Priority/Express shipping since that's the only tracking available outside of the country.
Also, it's only been 2 weeks since Sep. 12th - how did you ship the item? If it was Media Mail or Parcel Post, that could explain why it's taking a while [in rare cases they can take up to a month, especially if it's going a long distance like coast to coast]. So your buyer needs to hold her horses.

I have a next door neighbour that is making my life hell. I have his national insurance number, DOB, full name
life insurance details.and many other private details because of a postal mixup. How can I use this information against him?I have a next door neighbour that is making my life hell. I have his national insurance number, DOB, full name
i wish i was your neighbour as bungle would kick your sorry arrse
BLACK MAIL HIM.I have a next door neighbour that is making my life hell. I have his national insurance number, DOB, full name
Why would you want to do the evils? Just because this neighbour is a bad person doesn't mean you should be too. I suspect you need to leave well enough alone and let your higher power entertain justice.
tell him if he ain't going to stop his nasty campaign, you will forward his details to a criminal group who will fleece him of all his monies and assets!
His dogs head will be found on his pillow!
Be brave, be menacing!
But most of all be convincing!I have a next door neighbour that is making my life hell. I have his national insurance number, DOB, full name
Do you like jail? That is where you'll end up for reading his private mail even if it was in your mail box! It is a federal crime.
Report his actions to the police, instead. Oh, return his mail to the PO with a note that it was misdirected to your address.
they could be sick of the smell
I love the name it fits, you must have opened his mail, hm a federal offense. Now where did you want to go with this?
identity thief
Don't! You may get yourself into serious trouble. You opened his mail, it is illegal!!!!
You don't say what he does to make miserable, if it's something illegal you can call the police, if something inconsiderate try to talk to him. You will get better result talking then using underhanded means.
the only way to get back at your neighbour is to play him at his own game.
just throw a ham in his yard, like sharon osborne. it worked for her!
why would you do that? being an adult means you have to deal with people you dont like. you are no better than him if you do something with his information. and a postal mix up? you got his mail and opened it? you know thats against the law, right?
Dont blackmail him, that would be really stupid due to the fact that it is a criminal offence to open someone elses mail, you could just end up in a worse scenario if you do that. Dont use his details in a way that could be traced back to you. If you do something over the internet it can be traced to your IP address, If you do something over the phone, it can be easily traced and Payphones are always covered by cctv somewhere close by. If your gonna do it, do it by mail, untraceable unless he reports it and points you out as a suspect and they dust the documents for fingerprints. I can only advise you what not to do at the minute but if you provide more details on what hes doing then I can help some more! If all else fails, sign him up for a credit card, then go shopping!
Did you know that it is a federal offense to open somebody else's mail without their permission? You just admitted that you did that and that you want to use his private information against him which is also a crime. Good luck with that one.
if you do and this guy know his stuff- basically the law, he can do you for ID theft and you'd wind up with at the veryleast a hefty fine and caution, at the worst inprisonment or deportation if you are not from the country.
It may give you instant relief to act out a dream where you nail him for all his missgivings and b*stard behaviour, but its only short term and theres likely to be a retaliation from him, bigger, better, then its your turn....
LIFES TOO SHORT M8! seriously, is this how you want to live your life because once you start its going to be hard to stop as each of you will want to have the last "word".
Your best bet is to contact your local council/authority and keep a diary of everything he does which is out of order, so when yon make a compliant to the police about him, you have a some type of record. Depending on his crime, he could end up with a caution, a fine or inprisonment.
Its better that way around dont you think?
Don't do anything with it. Move. Get counseling for your anger issues.
you are breaking the law by opening his mail!!!!!
Speak to your local council or the Police
I'd just leave it alone and get on with your life mate.
Revenge is a bitter pill that can boomerang on you.
Instead, why don't you take a completely different tack and begin to pray for him. Pray for him to have all the wonderful things you want for yourself. At first you will feel like you are choking. But if you persist for at least ten days, you will begin to feel differently toward him.
Go for it.
Sign him on for benefit using his NI number then report him for benefit fraud.
Or get a credit card in his name, max it out then wait till he gets the bill.
Sounds to me like the two of you were made for each other. Retaliation does nothing but make matters worse. Why do you want to lower yourself? Have some pride %26amp; behave in a civilized manner. If you don't give your neighbor ammunition, perhaps things would improve between you. I'm not saying you have to be friends but maybe a truce as a goal would be doable in the future.
Report him to the council/police. But I wouldn't do anything with his details, bad karma man! :o)
Any way you like if you don't mind the police beating a path to your door and locking you away for a long, long time.
shame on you
thats a bit mean but you should definitely take action! if they are 'chavs' then anyway you can think of!

5 Day Hold On Insurance Claim Check?
I got my insurance claim check from the USPS [Postal Service] %26amp; I Signed The Check Over To My Friend For i Could Use Her Credit Card She Went Into Our Credit Union And They Told Her It Would Be On A 5 Day Hold Which Made no Sense Since All The Security Features On The Checks Are Easy To Verify By Looking At It...Is There A Reason They Put A hold On It?5 Day Hold On Insurance Claim Check?
Yes, because insurance "checks" are actually DRAFTS, not checks.5 Day Hold On Insurance Claim Check?
You did a third-party endorsement which are frequently fraudulent. Many banks will not honor them. Consider yourself lucky if you got a 5 day hold. They could have placed a 10 business day hold under current regulations.
It would have been better for you to cash the check at the Post Office and give the cash to your friend.edelbrock jdm

拢50 postal order sent to me with my name on it..exchangable for cash ~ can my sister cash it ?
The Post Office sent me 拢50 postal order gift, as a introductory offer when i took my car insurance out with them (cheaper than all other quotes I had + 拢50 postal order).
The letter with the postal order says its exchangable for cash at any post office, but postal order has got my name on it - can my sister take it to be cashed ? I gave it her so she can get the birthday present she wants tomorrow whilst in the city (some clothes).拢50 postal order sent to me with my name on it..exchangable for cash ~ can my sister cash it ?

What can happen if I already cashed the check?
I cancelled my auto insurance after renewing, I did an electronic transfer but changed my mind on the contract and stopped payment on 2/05 (i did not know I could have just cancelled within 72hrs without any money being taken (my bank did not tell me this either) so the insurance company never got the money this was about..2 days ago I get a $267.00 check from the same auto insurance co in the postal mail, I thought it was money left from a policy that l had lapsed and so I cashed it and used the money. Today i got a letter saiyng it was a check sent in error and I should not cash it but void it and return it, theres nothing left to return, Now what? What can happen if I already cashed the check?
Have to pay it back, they'll understand it was a mistake that you cashed it. Still have to give it back tho
it. i did end up having to pay 4.95 to my bank for the insurance company stopping the check and i cpould get it back but i am so sick of Geico that I won't waste any more energy on their rank bs.
Odd that you would spend their $267.00 and also your amount in the bank that was to cover insurance payment and not be aware you had $267.00 dollars too much? Poor stewardship.
So I would pay it guickly before they press criminal charges-
and they can.
you could call their bluff -- they would have to take you to court to get the money and 267.00 might not be worth their time. legally you would owe them the money though. if you live in the united states the odds are already stacked up in favor of corporations and not in favor of you. What can happen if I already cashed the check?
If you took money that was not meant for you to have, you owe it back, period. It is a big stretch to say they cant prove you took the money %26amp; that you dont owe it back when you obviously cashed the check. All they will need to do is show the stop payment you put on your check, and the clearing of thier check to prove you have the money, %26amp; need to give it back.
And you knew you had extra. If you stoped payment on your check, %26amp; spent the money, %26amp; got a check from them %26amp; spent the money, you knew you had some extra there. All it will show is that you are poor in math %26amp; character if you try to fight it. Just send them the money back. They will take a payment plan.
Legally they cant come after you for a mistake they made. You are not legally bound or obligated to return this money, unless its from the government, then you better start another job. Otherwise tell them its to late, you already cashed it and to a: stop calling you about it, or b: you will set a a payment arrangement to pay it back asap. Its really your call call whether to pay this back or not.....
Good luck with your dilemma....
P.S. I read many posts on here about them taking you to small claims court. They can not, take you to small claims court, nor can they take legal action against you. You did not sign a legal binding contract, this was sent in there error, and it is their loss. You can look in your phone book for a local attorney, many will do free phone consults, this may be your best source for answers due to the many conflicting answers here.
You owe them the money. Pay it.
You should definitely find a way to pay it back, as Insurance companies do employ debt collectors in this situation.
they cant take it back....and there is no legal action that they can take....what are the paper works to back up their claim that you owe them money? they can never win in a court of law....nor will they take you to court for a couple of dollars....no debt collector will accept that case....and even if they did...they cant win....when someone says that you owe them money..they have to give proof...in this situation, there is no proof..and also..even if a judge knew that you cashed the check and used it....he has no legal jurisdiction to tell you to give it back...so therefore, you win....you can only lose if you owe...and in this situation, you dont owe....they are bluffing you....as all insurance companies do...
Now if you don't pay it back, they send it to collections and eventually small claims court, until they get the $$.
I'd pay it back as quickly as possible, as stopping payment on the check *might* be a prosecutable action in your state, as check fraud.
Now what? Send them a check for $267.00 You spent the money in error. There may be as you say 'nothing left to return' from the actual check that they sent you, but you do have some sort of income don't you??? You owe them the money plain and simple and they do not care how you get it as long as they get their money back. The party is over, you didn't get away with keeping the money so pay it back or they will get it from you. They will consider it worth their time to collect 267.00 and that is why they have collection agencies and lawyers on their payroll. It really isn't worth selling your soul and being so dishonest over a lousy $267.00.
The onus is on the insurance company to correct the mistake, but really it won't be that hard for them to do and they may not have to take you to court to do it.
All they have to do is call your bank and dispute the transaction. The bank will launch an "investigation," and in about 2 to 3 months you may get a letter from the bank announcing that $267.00 will be debted from your account.
If they don't want to go through your bank, they can simply keep sending you letters that you owe them money and eventually they will send you to collections and it will show up on your credit report.
To avoid all this, I'd call up the company and try to work something out.
Or take your chances. Up to you.
Have to pay it back, they'll understand it was a mistake that you cashed it. Still have to give it back tho

Up to you.
A question on postal orders?
1) What is the difference between uncrossed and crossed postal orders?
2) does it offer any kind of insurance?
3) how much will it cost to send 拢100 by postal order?
thanks.A question on postal orders?
Crossed postal orders mean that only the named person can cash them whereas uncrossed means that they are 'open' for anybody to cash. It is safer I suppose to have a crossed one as if it went astray it would be more difficult to cash it. As to how much to send a 拢100 P.O. I'm afraid I don't know but it will be pretty expensive as the lower values ones cost a bomb. I suggest you check with the P.O. on that one.A question on postal orders?
An uncrossed postal order may be encashed at a Post Office. A crossed one can only be paid into a bank account. If a postal order gets lost in the post, you can claim a refund (provided you kept the stub).A question on postal orders?
Check for yourself at the Post Office.
I don't work for them so.. Sorry as much as i would love to help you, as you probably guessed i can't ;)

Dental Insurance Claim?
My dental office staff is claiming that they have submitted claim online, and they also submitted claim via postal mail.
However, the insurance company is claiming that they received the claim neither times.
What further can I do? The dental office can claim that they have done all they can do for a courtesy, as no health care provider in United States are legally required to submit claim so I will just have to pay the full non-insurance price for the dental service.
I also checked the claim mailing address with both the dental office and the insurance company.
Do I just pay because for some mysterious reason the claim never got sent or never received?
Any opinion?Dental Insurance Claim?
You can submit it yourself by mail.
You can even send it by certified mail, return receipt requested, so that there is proof of delivery.
Submit it yourself certified mail, return receipt requested.
You would be shocked at what happens in insurance company mail rooms. I know from experience.Dental Insurance Claim?
What you can do, is check with the insurance company, what address they're SUPPOSED to be sending the claim to, then check with the dental office about which address they ARE sending it to.
Also, you can get copies of the claim papers yourself, and mail your OWN claim forms in.
Look, I submit the exact same claim to Cigna, sometimes 8 or 10 times, before they "receive" it. Then slowly, every few days, I get one of the others back, with a form cover letter that the claim couldn't be matched up, or the number was wrong, or it was illegible - their SYSTEM automatically rejects any claim not exactly lined up perfectly. It's HORRIBLE.
You can call the insurance company, start documenting everything and get a direct fax number, to fax your claim to. Then, you keep your fax confirmation sheet, every time, and eventually, file a complaint with your state insurance commissioner, if it never gets paid.
It's not that the insurance company has a person denying the claims - the claims system - at least with Cigna - is so heavily automated, that a fax or email claim will get rejected from the system by a computer BEFORE a person can even see it, so it will never show up.
You submit the claim then. It's not a big deal. Your "most company's rule" is incorrect.Dental Insurance Claim?
Ask them to send it again by certified return receipt mail.

Which is the better option to invest around 1 lakh?
Hi, good morning I would like to invest around 1 lakh and leave that amount for the next 20 years. My age is 27.
I am confused with mutual funds, ULIP, Insurance, Fixed deposits, postal NSE scheme etc
Please suggest me the best option available to get good returnsWhich is the better option to invest around 1 lakh?
I don't know how much a lakh is, or what inflation is like wherever you are, but the long term prospects for bank accounts, mutual funds, and such are not very good right now. Perhaps you might invest it in gold, with the goal to sell in a few years when something else presents an opportunity.,
Is apnanifty working which gives 500% per annum working?.

Hi Raja,
I have an information for you.
Mutual Funds, ULIP, Insurance, Fixed Deposits, Postal NSC scheme etc. etc. are very poor in generating returns. The Inflation surpass the returns whatever they generate.
Just have a look at this site: http://www.apnanifty.com who claims of providing more than 500% per annum returns.
Marvellous. They insulate us from the Loss by their timely advise.
Mutual funds and shares are good options but the great option now seem to be future trading in gold and commodities. It is very easy because we know the movement of a commodity more than shares. Learning commodity trading is easy and free.Which is the better option to invest around 1 lakh?
To my mind the best way to invest money is to invest in someone's business. It's safer and more profitable. I have invested in good business and now I am getting guaranteed 40% annual interest.
I wish you success in your investments!mcdonalds toys cb radio

How long should it take to ship a laptop overseas?
Due to incredibly bad luck my laptop broke a few weeks before I was supposed to move to the UK to study abroad and due to even worse luck it took a good month to fix instead of the promised 'ten day turnaround.'
My dad shipped it to me from the US on September 26 via United States Postal Service with $600 insurance. How long should it take to arrive? Should it be here by now?How long should it take to ship a laptop overseas?

USPS shipping with insurance?
I am planning to ship an item using USPS Priority Mail. I would like to have it insured.
Do I need to show the item to the postal person before sealing the box, so they can estimate how much the item is worth?USPS shipping with insurance?
No, you just have to declare the value. YOU pick the insurance amount, not the postal service employee.
But if you end up claiming it, you then have to PROVE what the value is, with a receipt, or the ebay auction listing, etc.

Relative added his adult children to my uncle's (with dementia) insurance policy he set up for my sis and I
Since my sister and I were born, my "uncle" who is actually my mom's uncle, a lifelong single man, took pity on my us because our father abandoned us. He made us the beneficiaries of a small US Postal service employees insurance policy. Approx 30k was to be split between sister and I. Uncle is still alive but not doing well, with advanced Alzheimers. His brother and sister were appointed power of attorney. His sister (my grandma) recently passed away. Well this brother is really nasty and greedy, and a few years back he found out about the policy and threw a fit and tried to get it changed into his adult kids' names!! They told him no one could be removed, only added. So he added 3 of his kids to it out of jealousy. This was not my uncle's will or wish! I hear that my aunt changed it back into my sister and my name without him knowing, but I am sure he went and changed it back again. Is this legal? Do I have any legal recourse to sue him if it turns out he did put his kids back on it?Relative added his adult children to my uncle's (with dementia) insurance policy he set up for my sis and I
The question is whether he was mentally competent to change the beneficiaries on his insurance policies. If he had not already been adjudicated mentally incompetent when the changes were made then it will be a factual issue after his death if you or someone else chooses to contest the distribution. Such contests can easily cost more than your half or third share of $30,000. If you think its worth it start marshalling your evidence of mental incapacity now. See a lawyer who handles probate contests.Relative added his adult children to my uncle's (with dementia) insurance policy he set up for my sis and I
If he has POA then you have no recourse. I find it sad that the manis not even dead and yet the vultures fight over the money already.

I need to write a short story personifying the life cycle of an insurance claim?
For my Health Insurance Coding class, my teacher has given us an assignment to create a short story personifying the 10 steps to the life cycle of an insurance claim. I'm usually pretty good with writing, but I have absolutely no idea where to start. Any input? Here are the 10 steps according to my professor:
1. Contract Negotiation between the patient and the insurance company / the healthcare provider accepts the assignment.
2. Patient appointment scheduled / pre-registration
3. Patient completes registration and chart is started.
4. Service rendered
5. Data entered/charges entered in software from encounter forms. Copay is collected.
6. Print claim or submit electronically.
7. Electronic claims go to clearinghouse or printed claims go via postal mail.
8. Insurance company receives claim and adjudicates.
9. Provider receives a remittance, patient receives explanation of benefits
10. If claim is paid, provider posts to account. If rejected, provider can appeal.
I also have to remember these steps in order for a test that I have on Monday. Any advice towards that will be helpful as well.
Thanks!I need to write a short story personifying the life cycle of an insurance claim?
Think of the claim as a piece of paper, equalling a person or animal. Then, make up an adventure, as the paper is shuffled, pushed, pulled, and taken through the different places en route to being completed.
For the memorizing, change each point into a one or two-word idea.
1. negotiation accepted (NA)
2. appointment-preregister (AP)
3. register-chart (RC)
4. service (S)
Then make it into a single sentence you can remember. Like,
Not All-Advance Placement- Requires Careful- Selection .
At the test do it in reverse:
Not All= negotiation accepted, etc.
Good luck!I need to write a short story personifying the life cycle of an insurance claim?
Make it a story about an independent "license to kill" guy and the CIA or something like that.
healthcare provider accepts the assignment- "Jake accepted his assignment"
They pay him, if they don't pay him...oooh boy watch out :)

Help please someone in Inverness got to be Inverness to get an insurance company open today Sat or Invergordon
or any other area I can get to before 1.00 as the postal workers are out on bloody strike and I can't get my car taxed and have only the confirmation email, but not he actual policyHelp please someone in Inverness got to be Inverness to get an insurance company open today Sat or Invergordon
I got 7 points and a 拢750 fine because my insurance company issued the wrong policy, my tax was legitemate but had fallen from the window (it was a van), so what I am saying is, given that police rely on easy targets like motorists, what do you think the chances of getting away with it are, and how do you know you have been given the right cover until the policy turns up? I would give it a miss, I did not have the benefit of hindsight, but you have, use it well!Help please someone in Inverness got to be Inverness to get an insurance company open today Sat or Invergordon
you will not be able to tax your car without your insurance certificate, think you might have to rely on taxis or buses over the weekend to get around, it just isnt worth risking driving your car without tax, this will actually invalidate your insurance if you were to have an accident, let alone the trouble you would get into with the police. they dont even need to check your documents to know wether your taxed and insured, its all computerised and they do it automatically from scanning your number plate.
PLEASE do not take any risksxbox dragon age 2 mortal kombat dlc

Touring UK in caravan, sold home need postal address?
we have sold our house to tour the UK for a few years in our caravan. we need postal address, but have no family we can use. any suggestions how to have one? we are willing to pay for a service but would like to hear others experience/recommendations. we need to register DVLA, insurance etc to this contact addressTouring UK in caravan, sold home need postal address?
I don't think that a PO box is any use for things like insurance but the insurance company would be able to tell you. There must be a way around it maybe by calling yourself a traveller?
You can not use a PO box due to the anti terrorism legalisation. Suggest a good friend as I know of no other legal way to do it. We had similar problem when we toured Australia and Europe, we had to use a good friends address.Touring UK in caravan, sold home need postal address?
Try your local police station, the local council offices, or the Jobcentre.
Certainly, I recall having bank statements sent to student halls of residence. So a hostel is a possibility as well.
how about a post office box, check in nearest post office for details, not exactly sure that is how you do it, but guess its a start. Touring UK in caravan, sold home need postal address?

Postal Service Package Invalid Address Return?
I shipped a package via USPS Parcel Post and it didn't arrive to it's destination because of an invalid address. It has been about a month since and I haven't received it back. I have $100 insurance on it. What should I do? I have the tracking the number, but it doesn't report any information on it from the USPS website's track and confirm.Postal Service Package Invalid Address Return?
No offense, but your first mistake was to ship via Parcel Post. If I ship ANYTHING via the USPS it's by Priority Mail. They're tracking system has advanced lightyears from what it used to be, and management is now ensuring that packages are scanned often. Parcel Post is the cheapest way to ship something, and as far as I'm concerned, you get what you pay for!Postal Service Package Invalid Address Return?
Take your tracking number and the receipt where you paid for it to the Post Office and tell them it never arrived at its destination. If the address was invalid, they probably will not refund your money.Postal Service Package Invalid Address Return?
Basically USPS are still looking into it, cause you might of entered the wrong address and postal code, but if there's a return address on the package it will be sent back to you. Contact them. Since it has been a month.
Insurance numbers cannot be looked up online. Only the post office can look that up. I would go ahead and initiate your insurance claim.

I am thinking of selling new electronic products through auctions. I have one concern.?
What if the product doesn't work? If someone sends it back to me, then I will be out money. If I insist that the buyer purchase postal insurance, will this cover the problem for me? Could any mechanical problem wrong with the product be considered to be a fault of bad shipping? How do the postal companies treat such matters?I am thinking of selling new electronic products through auctions. I have one concern.?

How do I get My package that's been sent to the wrong address?
I recently bought something a couple days ago. I started to wonder why it was taking so long and realized that I had provided the wrong address. Under normal circumstances I would have called them to tell them that they had my package but when I looked the address up, it turned out to be an apartment. I don't really know what to do at this point. There's no insurance or postal delivery on it either. How do I get My package that's been sent to the wrong address?
No insurance? Lesson learned.
Unless you knock on the door and ask them to be honest- you're hooped.

If UPS can survive with the government providing the US Postal Service?
Then why can't private health insurance survive along side a much less expensive government health insurance option. If UPS can survive with the government providing the US Postal Service?
Just proves that the anti-healthcare scare tactics are unfounded. A public option would not limit your choice of health care provider.
The government does not make you use the U.S. Postal Service, at least not yet.
If you say the government will let us keep the coverage we have, you need to read the bill a bit closer.
"Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage," the "Limitation On New Enrollment" section of the bill clearly states:
"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law.
So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised 鈥?with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers. If UPS can survive with the government providing the US Postal Service?
We didn't always have private health insurance. It started on a mass scale only after the hospitals almost went broke in the great depression so in 1939 they got together and formed blue cross. If a persn who became sick couldn't pay the $100, $50 or $250... perhaps most people could pay $5 a month when they weren't yet sick Most people didn't need the hospital most the time. Since no one sold insurance at the time, th blue cross and blue shield had the field all to themselves, and so they could take all comers at a low premium without underwriting for isk because even if they charged 200% of risk, the cost was so low that most everyone found the cost so low that most low risk people bought the blue cross.
This all started to change in the 1980s when insurance companies realised they could go after he mass market community rated business that the Blues had. They took all the low risk healthy youngsters and cut prices to beat the Blues.
With health underwriting and two way voluntary insurance [voluntary meant that neither the insurer nor the insured were obligated to sell nor buy insurance] low risk types pay low premiums and sick people could only find insurance at $1000 per month or more.
This meant that insurance companies were now suspicious of individuals who asked for insurance. A very high percentage of them would be sick. Thus this means that even healthy people cannot buy insurance individually.
This means that only group insurance where purchase was mandatory regardless of health could theinsuance company be assured that the risk pool is not full of sick people.
This is why any reform must require all people to have insurance -- regardless of whether they are healthy
the Post Office last year lost 2 billion dollars because the private companies like Fed Ex and UPS are better at what they do. If private health insurance companies lost money at that rate they would go out of business because the Govt can always get more money by force. If UPS can survive with the government providing the US Postal Service?
the us postal service is in the red and runs very inefficiently. i know this because my wife worked for 10 years at the post office. they waste money like every government run program
thumbs down? are you serious? the post office has lost money for a long time. and anybody with a brain know that it is a fact most if not all government agency are wasteful. i suggest you turn of the tube and try reading. know the facts before you spuw your loon crap
A- It won't be less expensive.
B- They will outlaw private individual healthcare policies.
The government does not want the competition.
You will get on waiting lists and you will wait for bureaucrat approval for medical care. Older people will be allowed to die.
Funny how people think the government wastes money! The government has never spent a cent- We just put in circulation.I know my 75 thousand plus benfits for 2080 hours a year is money well spent, and I spend it and benefit the economy.dragon age 2 best top baby names

The government has never spent a cent- We just put in circulation.I know my 75 thousand plus benfits for 2080 hours a year is money well spent, and I spend it and benefit the economy.
I need to Over-Night a Check to my Insurance Broker. What would be Cheaper: USPS or UPS/FedEx?
I'm penny pinching and I need to overnight something today.
Who should I go with, UPS, FedEx, or the US Postal Service?I need to Over-Night a Check to my Insurance Broker. What would be Cheaper: USPS or UPS/FedEx?
The rates vary by the zip code your are sending from and the zip code you are sending to. The post office (usps.com) seems to have the lowest rates most of the time.
The rates are so high, that you might want to look into having your bank wire (not ACH) the money. Again, not cheap.I need to Over-Night a Check to my Insurance Broker. What would be Cheaper: USPS or UPS/FedEx?
USPS is always cheaper, and delivers on Saturday, as well.
Print your label online at USPS.com and you get a discount on the price. You can also track the shipment online, and you get a free delivery confirmation. Get your Express mail envelope at the post office, apply the label, and mail.
I love the USPS. :o)

Are government vehicles insured by a specific auto insurance company?
Or do local governments decide who will insure their vehicles? What about federal government/United States Postal Service vehicles? Are government vehicles insured by a specific auto insurance company?
The Federal government "self" insures. Claims are processed under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
Vehicles owned by state or local governmental entities may either be self insured or be covered by traditional auto insurance or be covered under a blanket liability policy. It varies with each entity.
"The restroom is the one place in a government building where everybody knows what they are doing."Are government vehicles insured by a specific auto insurance company?
The premiums for fleets of that size would be monstrous. It is definitely cheaper for government fleet vehicle to be self-insured. They pay state and provincial registration fees, though, unless they have federal plates.
Gov vehicles are insured by ;US tax payer screwed again...it's a large company which also carries home disaster insurance. I guess it's a good company because it pays for all kinds of perks including but not limited to fully paid vacations for all it's top employees. Are government vehicles insured by a specific auto insurance company?
Most governments at all levels are self-insured.

Do you know that if you purchase "First Class" postage to send a parcel by the Postal Service, that you will
not be refunded this amount in the event that the Postal Service loses it because sending it only by "First Class" with no Insurance - is not a "Guaranteed Service"?
- And that this is a "Federal Regulation"!
Just how immoral is this?Do you know that if you purchase "First Class" postage to send a parcel by the Postal Service, that you will
Yes , I have the misfortune of knowing this is true . You would think that with on-going rate increases we as citizen-consumers would be receiving a better postal service rather than institutionalized mediocrity .
Morality is not an issue with the USPS.
:0)Do you know that if you purchase "First Class" postage to send a parcel by the Postal Service, that you will
Without tracking or a signature, how can you prove it either way?
It would mean that anyone willing to fill out a form could make money defrauding the postal service.
I might want a muffin and a cup of coffee, but have no money. I could go to the post office, give them a receipt from a package that I had mailed weeks ago, and get my money back. USPS would have no way to know as they do not track regular first class mail.
In short, that'd be a big can of worms.

Can you claim back the cost of obtaining a copy of a police report for an insurance claim? In Canada...?
I was robbed in Canada and had to pay $43 for a copy of the police report and a banking fee of $6.50 as I had to pay with a bankers draft / postal order because it had to come from Canadian funds by post and I had no local bank account. Am I able to claim back the $49.50 that it cost me as part of the insurance claim? Can you claim back the cost of obtaining a copy of a police report for an insurance claim? In Canada...?

Will national health care be run like the U S Postal Service?
Will I have to use secondary insurance when I want good service?
Will there hopefully be FedX healthcare or UPS healthcare? Will national health care be run like the U S Postal Service?
So long as there is a market for quality healthcare and no law prohibiting it, you will have options.
However, under a nationalization scheme, the government's incentive will be to penalize quality providers via increased regulation.
So, you will pay for the worthless nationalized scheme directly and indirectly.

Does anyone seriously believe that the public option is going to "put insurance companies out of business"?
That's kind of like saying that the US Postal Service is going to put UPS and Fed Ex out of business... I haven't seen that happen yet, and UPS is over 100 years old.Does anyone seriously believe that the public option is going to "put insurance companies out of business"?
The "public option" will lead to single payer and that will destroy the health insurance industry and lead to worse, more expensive health care.
Doesn't the postal service keep raising its prices every couple of years?
Hmmm....Does anyone seriously believe that the public option is going to "put insurance companies out of business"?
The US Postal service is in serious financial trouble. So is the Government run health plan in Mass.
What makes you think the Governments plan is going to work, or are you just willing to gamble off 900 billion of your kids debt?
The postal service is not one sixth of our economy, and if Obaama wanted, he could regulate until UPS and Fedex are driven out of business.
Competition?
Which singular health insurance company has access to offer its service in every state, like a proposed public option?
None! That is the answer.
The government would force its "option" on every state, making it more accessible than any other insurer.
Don't you get it?Does anyone seriously believe that the public option is going to "put insurance companies out of business"?
USPS needs to be put out of business.
How come the other company's make a profit but not the Post Office.
So you want more waste.
How old are you?
No. It's just more right wing fearmongering teamed up with corporate lobbyists. They like controlling the industry at our expense.
I doubt it. I haven't seen prices go down. It would be nice to see the work harder to get business.
Could be the means to an end.
The postal service is running at a loss and is funded in part by the taxpayer, even though it is supposed to be self-sustaining - which as we see is not run well. I don't think a public option will put insurance companies out of business, it will put most Americans into the poverty level when they have to support another government run business.

Do USA government workers get fabulous pensions and health insurance after retirement?
i'm thinking postal workers, but I guess that would mean TSA agents too?Do USA government workers get fabulous pensions and health insurance after retirement?
Mostly those that are voted into office, because they do not have to play by the rules the rest of us do, and special interest groups, and their cronies take care of them when they do not get reelected.

Who to call about improving the Postal employees dental coverage?
We have the worst dental coverage there is.My husbanbd works for the Post office,we have Blue cross blue shield and they cover basically nothing and what they do cover they cover by maybe $12! We tried to find a separate dental insurance but it isn't offered anywhere, just dental rebates. Why does the Post office not offer a better dental plan? We had Blue cross before with a different employer and they covered almost all except for crowns and if we did pay a part it was nominal. It is really the Post office that decides the contract and coverage for their employees. Is there any hope that I can contact anyone to ask for improvement?Who to call about improving the Postal employees dental coverage?

Postal office How to ship a 26'' Tv perishable Question.?
I need to Ship an lcd Tv.
I understand I need insurance and delivery confirmation.
What I don't understand is when I tell them it's perishable what do they do?
Will I be charged more?????
Also Is it ok to ship the TV laying down?
Thank youPostal office How to ship a 26'' Tv perishable Question.?
Take this TV with its perishable technology to the nearest UPS store and have it packed and shipped from there.Postal office How to ship a 26'' Tv perishable Question.?
You do not want to tell them the TV is perishable. Perishable items are things like food or flowers, which will spoil if they are not delivered on time. Instead, you want to tell the post office that the item is fragile. In other words, it is easily broken if it is tossed around too much.
Theoretically, if you mark an item as fragile, they will try to take better care of it during shipping. But you should definitely pay for insurance in case it breaks anyway.
Also, keep in mind that the postal service has limits on the size of packages that can be sent. The maximum is 130 inches combined length and "girth." Length is the longest dimension. For a TV, that's going to be the width of the package rather than it's height. Girth means the distance *around* the package at its thickest part. So it is not just width plus height.

A large TV might be too big to send through parcel post.
If you can't send the TV through the post office, try UPS, which usually has larger limits. You can find a UPS store by putting your Zip code in the space on the Web page below.
http://www.theupsstore.com/Pages/index.a鈥?/a>
As to shipping the TV laying down, I think it depends on the particular TV. If you still have the original box, it will probably say something if there are any limitations on how it is stacked. The box might be labeled somthing like, "This End Only Up." Otherwise, it is mostly a question of how well you have the TV packaged. If it is laying down, at the bottom of a huge pile, with lots of other parcels stacked on top, that has to be bad for the screen, unless there is adequate packing material to protect it.Postal office How to ship a 26'' Tv perishable Question.?

Hi,I ve heard about PACL insurance fro my friends and they are torturing me to put a policy..Is it a reliable?
Also i am searching in internet fro getting the policy details ,I cudn't..Where shall i get the company details from internet.?Whether it is a one like LIC or RD(Postal)...They are convincing me that this PACL/MAX NEWYORK Plan is better that LIC policies and RD...Can anyone guide me?Hi,I ve heard about PACL insurance fro my friends and they are torturing me to put a policy..Is it a reliable?
Hi, please be careful when you are thinking of buying policies from companies that you have not heard of. It is a very common practice to force your friends/family members to buy the same policy that you have. Apart from the fact that there is safety in numbers, nobody wants to be the only one with a policy. These days there are good resources online to compare insurance policies and check out details of insurance policies to find out which suits you the best. One such site is Zibika (http://www.zibika.com/) Why don't you see if you can find what suits you best over there?Hi,I ve heard about PACL insurance fro my friends and they are torturing me to put a policy..Is it a reliable?
haha. i laughed at your word 'torturing'!! anyway, its a company, which comes under Ministry of Finance(DCA-Deptt of Company Affairs),not under IRDA. secondly,it deals in real estates stuff, where your money is 100% safe. thirdly,if ya wish to look at company pro, check out company's real estate website. www.paclindia.in. meanwhile, company has didnt start its RD %26amp; FD to track online. for that, you ll have to some wait. meanwhile, you can invest a very small amount,to build your trust. i am working parttime in it,%26amp; gave answer to guide you in right way. take care,buddy...

Will the government-funded health insurance company drive private insurers out of business?
Just like the US postal service drove UPS and FedEx out of business? Will the government-funded health insurance company drive private insurers out of business?
absolutely
hope soWill the government-funded health insurance company drive private insurers out of business?
How is it going to do that? In order to qualify, you cannot have employer sponsored health care.
"Business", yes, I hope so. This form of usury, where life is concerned, should not long continue. I don't really care that much about about of brown shirts that steal. Will the government-funded health insurance company drive private insurers out of business?
Who knows. People are supporting something that could cost them $2000 a month or $100 per month.
No, but it will force them out of their ivory towers......
I can only hope so. The private insurance business is worthless and expensive. Nothing like paying $600 a month for nothing.
Apples to oranges comparison. The postal service has legal monopolies for letters, which the others don't carry. It is running in red ink and cutting services. The government funded plan will easily undercut all the competition using taxpayer dollars.
Why don't you look for a rational argument to support your case?
I sense sarcasm.....or at least, I really hope I do. :)
Bad comparison. The USPS isn't subsidized by taxpayers. Their budget is limited to the fees paid by the people who use the service, so they can't afford to undercut the competition.
There's going to be no such limitation on the public option.
UPS and FEDEX came along AFTER the post office was formed
Those two companies arise from the CRAPPY SERVICE provided by the government.
In Canada they have OUTLAWED private health care, and obama wants to destroy private care here too
This plan SUCKS
A conservative doesn't think about these things. They just wanna play the "whoever has the most toys when they die wins" game.
Keep the free market alive, say NO to the government option. But demand reform that will work done by all parties. Fix things, don't add to the problems.
Bad example Kevin. UPS and FedEx make a profit. US postal service? Not so much.
Eventually it may drive others out of business, when they are taxed to pay for it.
Ups and fed x are still in business, and no Private insurers will be forced to drop there rates and the greedy CEO"s will get a much smaller paycheck. You need to get a firmer grasp on reality because you run off at the key board spewing unfounded trash without thinking before posting, Because you are blinded by the fact your wing nuts the geezer and gidiot got there asss kicked.
What it will do is force people who have good coverage now out of their current plans and into a public option. Which in the long run will run a lot of company's out of business and the others will shift there focus to what the public option won't cover(cancer, long term care, special treatment for certain diseases,). It's funny how the public option won't help in these areas to save lives, but it will fund abortions to end lives.
No. They will integrate into the lager industry, and offer additional services. Services that would be considered outside the norm or usual.
FedEx and UPS are still doing better business then the post office. Who do think the post office uses for overloads. The post office even uses general transport carriers.
Similarly, public insurance will still use private investment houses.
Doesn't the postal service have to raise its prices every couple of years?
And no they won't run private insurances out of businesses, it just will be impossible for individuals to BUY private insurance.
Another "luxury" only the wealthy will be able to afford.
Thanks dems, you didn't kill private insurance, you just killed the middle class.
Great going.

If an insurance company has been found in contempt for non payment after a court order, who goes to jail?
38 months ago I was run over by a postal worker in a buick that drove thru my store. My lawyer says 3 court orders have been issued for payment of the injuries incurred, but no payments have been made by them. Now after 3 years they decided to fight it and I have a deposition scheduled next week. My question is, can I have the insurance companies lawyer arrested for contempt of court when she shows up for the deposition? If not, why does the court bother wasting time issuing orders? What options do I have? I have done everything the way I should have, but still no progress after over 3 years of pain and suffering and expenses. I cant work because of the injury, and have been subjected to delays, and endless suffering. Would a more direct approach like declaring war on them be more appropriate at this point? If an insurance company has been found in contempt for non payment after a court order, who goes to jail?
You cannot have the lawyer arrested. However, if you have a court order (and it is not currently under appeal), your attorney can file a claim against the officers of the corporation personally. Trust me, once this is done, things will begin to move quickly. If an insurance company has been found in contempt for non payment after a court order, who goes to jail?
The violation of the orders is most likely civil, not criminal, contempt. So no, you can't get the lawyer arrested. Even if you could get someone arrested, you'd go after an officer of the business and not the lawyer.
Have you asked your lawyer what you can do to enforce the judgment? The other side is going to delay as long as possible. Make sure you're doing all you can to forestall this.If an insurance company has been found in contempt for non payment after a court order, who goes to jail?
No one goes to jail unless and until the contempt is brought to the judge's attention and then he or she decides what type of punishment is appropriate "to vindicate the dignity of the court." This can be jail, a fine, an order that the offending party obey the order by a certain time or any or all of these options.
You should ask your lawyer if your state recognizes "third party bad faith." If it does, you may have an additional claim directly against the insurance company. If it does not, your state may recognize an assignment of the bad faith claim from the postal worker to you.
Since this is a federal employee, was he/she in the course and scope of employment? Is this private insurance company?

Isn't it about time we were given a choice of postal service?
Royal mail are on strike, that's a laugh! The postal service has actually been more efficient since the strike. I have not had any mail delivered by royal mail before 1 p.m. for about 6 months. So much mail goes missing and I no longer buy there so called insurance because I have so much insured and recorded things lost and never had one successful reimbursement.
Why don't we get the opportunity for a better delivery service provider for the good honest postmen to work for?Isn't it about time we were given a choice of postal service?
no...it's
V-A-D-E-R TIME!
Are you trying to insinuate that I am proposing some sort of dictatorship on the scale of the Dark Side's Evil Empire simply because I think the postal service we are a slave to is crap.
I'm off to measure all my envelopes and parcels before Christmas so I don't get some sort of fine.
Yes it is
Hi,I can see the postal service being took over.Have no idea if it will improve.Isn't it about time we were given a choice of postal service?
Watch this space. Royal Mail's monopoly on letter delivery will end before the year is out. The CWU will have done for postmen what the NUM did for our country's mining industry. In Christmas 2008, your cards will be delivered by a Lithuanian working for TNT (assuming you haven't emailed them).
Gotta luv em! though one of oldest business in global history.
...there is a "choice".... the Postal Service or UPS or Fed Ex or DHL or "carrier pigeon" or e-mail.
i have to agree. royal mail, services are very poor. i have had so much lost post its unreal. not to mention, the post i dont know about!!
I had a friend who was a postie and the tales he told me would make you hairs curl! Some of the (not all) hardly did any work and spent their days larking about with our precious post. Many played the system to collect overtime. Only my postman seems to be working hard.
like the railway?GPO etc?
if you want a choice of postal service then go right on ahead set one up.
the main problem Royal Mail has is that it is still owned by the Government (not in itself a problem, but it is a problem if the politicians meddle in the day to day operations of the post office (such as deciding what rates the post office can charge, putting pressure on the managment of the company to meet union requirements.)
If you want a better post service then you need to be prepraed to spend more on your post, the UK post service is one of the cheapest in Europe.. almost certainly to cheap. Its a labour intensive service.. meaning that there are relatively few productivity enhancements that can be introduced. One of the best productivity savings good be the abolition of the doorstep delivery... ie the post office delivers to a box where you go and collect your post. But ,most people including me don't like that one.
There are undoubntably saving to be made in improving productivity.. but the reality is that there are precious few people willing to do the job. which would indictae ot me that the wages are to low compartively. The post office has got itself into a mess with using temporary staff (generally more expensive and couldn't give a stuff. some of thsoe temproary staff are not native english speakers... and have problems as a consequence. soem of the probels, are down to antiquated wrong practises, some are down to poor management.
From my personal experience Royal Mail do a pretty good job. I live out it the sticks, the post get delivered to me. I don't care if it arrives before or after 13:00..... as Im usually out at work.
Occasionally the post takes a day or two later to delivery than elsewhere, but I dont care.. it gets delivered. In the last 20 years Im only aware of 2 occasions when the post hasn't been delivered..... one of those was a parcel which requires a signature, the supplier states the parcel was returned to them I never got the card to say the item was available for collection at the post office, the other recently is a letter which seems to have gone astray. but As I dont trust the person who claims to have sent the letter I have my suspisicions that it was never posted.
To my knowledge I've never had a letter sent by me go astray, with 2 exceptions (one went astray because I hadn't put enough postage on the letter.. it was returned 2 months after posting, the other was a letter which the post office struggled to deliver.. because of my poor handwriting.. it was delivered some 4 weeks later.
There have been a few mis-deliveries (items delivered to me that shouldn't have been, and items delivered to my neighbours.. in both cases the wrongly delivered letter was put in the correct box later.

How are car insurance premiums calculated?
I am not looking for actual numbers necessarily, just a typical formula. e.g.
base_price_for_vehicle plus price_for_vehicle_modifications multiplied by percentage_for_owner_age multiplied by percentage_for_postal_code multiplied by percentage_for NCDHow are car insurance premiums calculated?
I wish I could give you a formula. The best I can do is list the factors that have an affect:
Age of driver
Gender of driver if under age 25
Driving history
Veh specifics (yr make model)
Cost to repair or replace said vehicle
Damage said vehicle likely to cause
Safety features of vehicle (alarms/airbags/daytime running lamps)
Territory (where vehicle is kept when not driven)
Purpose/Use of vehicle
Insurance credit score if over 19 in most states
Whether or not you have an established history with an insurance company
Hope this helps
by an eejitHow are car insurance premiums calculated?
There isnt a formula as such, but each answer you give either raises the figure or lowers it (occasionally).
For example, age=17 wil increase your premium by a few hundred pounds.
Vehicle = Land Rover will bring it down a little.
Postcdes have a significant effect.
Quotes can vary depending on the day or time of the month. Try it, it really does work
Your formula is pretty accurate. There could be other factors. Assigned risk (under 25, male vs female, past accidents or tickets), amount of coverage.
Distance travelled to work is one factor I know goes into it.
Also post codes are assigned "risk" values based on number of accidents or claims for that post code.
Also how long you've been with the company could be a factor and I know if you haven't had insurce in recents times that's also a factor, as they assume you were driving without insurance.
Type of vehicle also. Sports cars get higher rates. How are car insurance premiums calculated?
In addition to the above, they ask if your car will be kept in a garage or on the street, so I guess this makes a difference. Your occupation my also make a difference - people in the entertainment industry are charged higher premiums for some reason.
Holy cow, it's based on SO MUCH STUFF!
The VIN #, sex of driver, age, driving record, location, and sometimes credit... I'm sure there's more...
Here is a list of some of the variables that an auto insurance underwriter considers when determining your auto insurance rate:
Location the vehicle is garaged
Type and model of vehicle
Value of the vehicle
Coverages provided and limits of coverage
Deductible
Age of Vehicle
Your age
Your Gender
Your driving record
Vehicle theft rates for your type of vehicle in your territory/area
Number of miles you drive the vehicle per year
The auto insurance companies loss experience for that type of vehicle and drivers in your age and gender group
If your vehicle has any anti-theft devices
If the vehicle is used for commercial/business purposes, what are those, and how often.
These are a few of the factors used to develop your auto insurance premium. Having been an underwriter for an insurance company I can tell you each insurer has their own set of guidelines on how they price auto insurance.
I hope that helps.

Conservatives, why do you think a Public Option will put private Health Care Insurance out of business?
Did the United States Postal Service put Fedex or UPS out of business?

If you are an employer, and you have the choice of either paying for health insurance for your employees, or paying a cheaper fee to the government and telling your employees to go get on the government's plan, which would you do?
And when most of the employers in the United States have stopped offering health insurance, not enough people will be left to buy private health insurance to make private insurance companies worth staying in business. Private health insurance companies will go out of business, and then who is left to provide your health care?
A Single Payer called the US Government, that's who.
Wake the hell up. A so-called Public Option is not intended to lower the cost of health care or to co-exist with private health care insurance. The Public Option is DESIGNED to put private health care insurance out of business and place a Democrat-dominated Federal Government as the sole remaining provider of health care in the United States in perpetuity.
A government that controls your health care also controls you.Conservatives, why do you think a Public Option will put private Health Care Insurance out of business?
The USPS isn't subsidized by the taxpayers, so they can't afford to undercut Fedex of UPS.
The only way I would support a public option is if its budget is limited to whatever fees it takes in from the people who use it. No taxation of nonusers, no deficit spending.
If government care is as good as Democrats claim, people will flock to it, and it will sustain itself. If it's as bad as Republicans claim, it will wither and die.
Apples and oranges:
Health care will remain expensive, whether government run or state run, until some of the causes of the expenses are controlled. Is there anything in this 1,100 page bill about tort reform? Is there anything in this bill about encouraging people to go into the medical profession, so that people in rural areas can actually see a doctor?
Maybe there are things that address these issues, and others like them, but I am skeptical.
First, you are comparing apples to oranges. The Post Office existed BEFORE UPS and long before FedEx, therefore, these companies fulfilled service niches that the Post Office did not offer or do as effectively. Your analogy is based on a false premise.
Second, to understand true competition, you have to have a level playing field. Government run ANYTHING means no accountability to cost overruns. Show me a successful government run program, and I'll show you a private contractor that does it for them.
Third, the health care that Congressional members have is not government run. They all have health care with private providers, which we the taxpayers pay for. And this is not what is being offer to the General Public as the "Public Option". Not even close.
Your comparison is apples and oranges.
If Fed Ex and UPS were required to offer competing daily 1st class mail route delivery, with the same union guarantees enjoyed by the USPS employees - they would quickly be out of business.
Unless.. they could actually do that job more efficiently than the USPS.. wait a minute - I may be onto something here!
Nah.. Like the Post Office - the Public Option would be shielded from competition by the private sector. They would consistently be able to offer lower prices because they're not required to post a profit.
But - like Walmart taking out local businesses - once the competition is gone - you'd be stuck with the Public No Option. And from that seed grows the weed of healthcare rationing.
No. UPS and Fedex survived because they are far more efficient than the Postal Service at tracking and delivering packages. The Postal Service has a government-imposed monopoly on 1st Class mail. Otherwise, at current rates, they'd be dead meat. Instead, users and taxpayers are overcharged, and money that could have gone for investment in more productive enterprises (all of which, are, by nature, in the private sector.)
If one reads the House bill you'll see that it is designed to 1) force the public "option" on people who change jobs or contracts; and 2) ultimately mandate levels of payment to suppliers of health care ---which like Medicare, means below the cost to the supplier---so the private sector will have to pay far more to make up the difference, and 3) the Government program will never have to break-even, because it can just print more money or tax people more.
It is designed specifically to gradually push control of each individual's health into the jurisdiction of the Almighty Federal Government. The 10th Amendment exists for a reason, and this is one of them.
Wage and price controls after WWII, Medicare and Medicaid, have removed free market competition in this industry for decades, thus actually raising costs by artificial government involvement.
We blame the HMO's, Insurance Companies, etc., for higher medical costs (never trial lawyers), all of whom exist because of previous government mandates, but this entire situation is a bit like shooting your dog in the leg and then blaming it for not fetching the morning paper.
Kinda like blaming Wall Street for the damage caused by the Community Reinvestment Act.
Some of us just don't trust State Capitalists anymore.
Artificially low rates that non-health exchange companies can't compete with and unreasonable regulation by the government.
For an example look at the effects of property insurance in Florida. Since creating a taxpayer funded insurance option, the private companies have started bailing out. They drop customers or refuse to renew. Thank you Gov. Crist.
Case in point:
California, my home, enacted legislation many years ago that required employers to carry insurance for employees in case they were hurt on the job - Workers Compensation Insurance. This was already the law when I went into business in 1979, so I bought worker's comp insurance from an agent along with general liability and vehicle insurance.
Business owners complained about the excessive cost of this insurance, so the State came up with an alternative plan called the State Compensation Fund. I knew it was out there, but I liked my agent and was happy with my insurance. One day, I received a letter that Farmers would no longer be offering workers comp in California. My agent switched me to another insurance company I'd never heard of and all was well. Eventually, they left too. I was unable to find insurance at this point except the State Compensation Fund seemed to be alive and well. That is where my coverage is today.
A quick Google search for "Workers comp California" revealed a page full of attorneys and the State Compensation Fund, but no private insurance companies.
That, my friend, is the "single payer" risk we face.
Will it happen? I don't honestly know, but it could. Obama's plan wouldn't put us there, if he sticks to it, but other presidents are going to follow and who knows what they'll do? And don't forget, Pelosi has a lock on her House position as long as she wants it. No one in San Francisco would ever vote her out. They've been communists since the 1960s.
Because the private sector can not compete with the government. The government has an infinite supply of money, or so the democrats think anyway, and they can pass laws that require doctors to get paid $10 an hour. A private insurance company can not do that.
Read the bill, the way its written the public option will override any private health insurance. The "public option" would very soon be the only one available.
Because a private business needs to make a profit, one that is subsidized by taxpayers does not , therefore eliminating the actual competition .
In case you missed it.

A simple addon to any bill would guarentee that it would not, but no Democrtas wants to include that..ergo..Public Option is inteded to put private Health Care Insurance out of business
USPS should of been out of business it doesn't make a profit it loses 7 billion a year. FEDEX and UPS makes profits what about Amtrak how many private passenger trains are out there since the govt owns Amtrak
They also claim the public option would fail..

In case you missed it.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
A simple addon to any bill would guarentee that it would not, but no Democrtas wants to include that..ergo..Public Option is inteded to put private Health Care Insurance out of business
USPS should of been out of business it doesn't make a profit it loses 7 billion a year. FEDEX and UPS makes profits what about Amtrak how many private passenger trains are out there since the govt owns Amtrak
They also claim the public option would fail..
If the Postal Service were to be disbanded, how long before shipping costs would start rising as fast as?
health insurance premiums? If the Postal Service were to be disbanded, how long before shipping costs would start rising as fast as?
Excellent question. Not only will costs soar, but remote areas are not serviced by UPS and Fed Ex. As it is, only the post office goes to some areas.
The Republicans are going after the USPS for one reason only: It has one of the biggest unions.
Remember, the USPS doesn鈥檛 cost the taxpayers a dime and it makes about $36Billion per year.
In 2006, the Republican Congress passed, and George W. Bush signed a law saying the Post Office had to cover 75 years worth of pensions in ten years. Nobody else has to do that. Independent firms estimate the Post Office has already overpaid this by $50-80 Billion.
If that law hadn鈥檛 been put in place, right now, according to Ralph Nader, the USPS would have over a $1Billion surplus.
There are two competing pieces of legislature in the House right now.
One is being led by Republican Darrell Issa. It will call for the Post Office to fire about 120,000 employees.
The other is H.R. 1351, by Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-MA). It calls for a rollback of the stupid 2006 law. They鈥檙e collecting sponsors so that it can go directly to the floor for a vote.
You need to call your congressmen/women and ask them to please sponsor this bill if you want to save the post office from destruction.

Considering private package transport in the US basically comes down to UPS, FedEx and to a much lesser extent DHL, I guess it will end up becoming much like every other oligopoly with huge barriers to entry. Prices will rise, and collusion will almost certainly be a factor. Some other global mail monster like TNT or TOLL might try to squeeze in, but it likely wouldnt change anything. If the Postal Service were to be disbanded, how long before shipping costs would start rising as fast as?
It wouldn't. MORE delivery services would be created in it's wake thereby decreasing the cost.
-Hell! half the time I use fedex and UPS because they are cheaper. I was going to send my golf clubs across the country and guess which service was cheaper? Hint; It wasn't the US postal service.
Competition creates lower prices. We don't want it disbanded. We only want it privatized so taxpayers won't have to pay for a shinking ship.If the Postal Service were to be disbanded, how long before shipping costs would start rising as fast as?
You would need a constitutional amendment to disband it since it's in the constitution.
It's already happening and they haven't been disbanned yet!
They will increase even faster
USPS sucks. Good riddance.

Why do liberals hate the health insurance industry so much?
At least they could be fair, you know, and have a little balance. Maybe we could force some of the industries they love so much to compete against the government.
Let's force FedEx and UPS to compete against the postal service and watch them fail. Or maybe we could have the private schools face off against public schools, they wouldn't stand a chance.
Take that, liberals. Why do liberals hate the health insurance industry so much?
Finally an admission that the right is in bed with business interests and has their interests at heart and not that of the public. Did you get it. Do you like it , do you love it.

I think some of it has to do with how often the insurance companies deny coverage, while the executives rake in millions of dollars each year. Why do liberals hate the health insurance industry so much?
FedEx and UPS already do. The current state of the health insurance industry sucks. If you pay a premium, you should be covered. In some cases, this is not the case.

THE SECURITY YOU GET from health insurance reform:
* No Discrimination for Pre-Existing Conditions
* Insurance companies will be prohibited from refusing you coverage because of your medical history.
* No Exorbitant Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays
* Insurance companies will have to abide by yearly caps on how much they can charge for out-of-pocket expenses.
* No Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care
* Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as mammograms or eye and foot exams for diabetics.
* No Dropping of Coverage for Seriously Ill
* Insurance companies will be prohibited from dropping or watering down insurance coverage for those who become seriously ill.
* No Gender Discrimination
* Insurance companies will be prohibited from charging you more because of your gender.
* No Annual or Lifetime Caps on Coverage
* Insurance companies will be prevented from placing annual or lifetime caps on the coverage you receive.
* Extended Coverage for Young Adults
* Children would continue to be eligible for family coverage through the age of 26.
* Guaranteed Insurance Renewal
* Insurance companies will be required to renew any policy as long as the policyholder pays their premium in full. Insurance companies won't be allowed to refuse renewal because someone became sick.
Health Insurance rates are increasing at 8-9% a year while wages are decreasing.
500,000 american families file for bankruptcy due to uncover portions of medical care, EACH YEAR

Rescinding health policies of 20,000 people in past five years saved health insurers $300 million
For years, Americans have heard news stories about the sick patient whose health insurance policy was rescinded in the midst of a health crisis. Now comes public acknowledgement鈥攁t a Congressional hearing no less鈥攖hat this business practice exists!
Executives from three of the nation鈥檚 largest health insurers admitted to this practice when testifying at a Congressional investigation recently. Observers believe the surprisingly candid acknowledgement about health insurance recessions pretty much guarantees insurers will be excluded from the health care reform debate. It may even ensure inclusion of a government health insurance plan in the final legislation which passes."
How can anyone defend an Industry that promises coverage and takes peoples money while they are healthy then refuses to give coverage when they get ill?
I suggest that folks visit http://thesaurus.reference.com/ and find some alternative to the word "hate" which is used with wild disregard for accuracy. I feel that the "for private profit" model is entirely the wrong foundation for health care delivery, and that health care should be a public service like our library or parks services. Health care decisions should be based on the patient's best interest, not on how the choice of treatment will affect the physician's pay check. "Hate" has nothing to do with it. I don't hate anybody. I don't hate corporations either, I just love Ben %26amp; Jerry's and Newman's Own.
As someone who has changed jobs every few years--and I am average in that regard--I can tell you that filling out the paperwork and realizing a doctor you had with your last job's isn't covered with your new job's insurance really sucks. I am lucky that I have never been denied coverage or seen my premiums go up. But that doesn't mean it won't happen.
Liberals are not against people making a profit; they are against excessive profits at the expense of others. When doctors get incentives for denying treatment, that is wrong. When corporations post a loss, but the executives get massive bonuses, that is wrong. The fact that some of the corporations who took bailout money to give executives bonuses--when said executives should have gotten a lead parachute--is sickening; and trust me, I blame the corporations for this.
And as someone else pointed out, FedEx and UPS DO compete against the postal service. If you're sending something to someone, you pick the company that gets your letter or package where you want it to go 1) as quickly as possible and/or 2) as inexpensively as possible. When it comes to a letter, you usually pick the postal service. When it comes to a package, many people pick FedEx, UPS, or any of the other companies whose specialty is delivering packages.
As some conservatives love to say, it's what the market will bear. So why not take the same stand with health insurance companies. If they can't offer as good a product as any public option, well, isn't that just market forces?
You republicans.... you are so innovative in stealing from the American PPL. Your strategies to fight an idea, ways to make America the country that we once knew.
